Comment

[edit]

In the second paragraph, it's not clear how "the conflict over widely-adopted term von Neumann architecture" influenced Eckert's decision to leave the University of Pennsylvania. Perhaps someone could explain this (I'm not aware of the story). Nethgirb 22:27, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This statement was inaccurate. I have removed it and clarified the controversy at the conclusion of the article, but intend to add more at a later date. Certainly no one was using the term "von Neumann architecture" in 1946. Robert K S 16:14, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm surprised that one slipped through the cracks! No wonder it wasn't categorized . . . GreenReaper 05:47, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

deleting old, bogus edit

[edit]

it was added in this edit, back in 2012. it is not clear who is the "I" mentioned in this edit, and what is the relevance of this paragraph to the "later career" section. קיפודנחש (aka kipod) (talk) 01:20, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Punch card methodology

[edit]

According to this video from Grady Booch, Eckert was a pioneer in the use of punch cards and wrote a book about it. See 22:50
