Ready for mainspace again?

[edit]

This version is looking pretty good; I can see the issues with the summer-of-2023 version of the page that led to its deletion request but now I think the sourcing is clearly broad (and with many secondary sources) and the notability issues have been resolved. Any reason not to move it back to mainspace (and restore the categories) now? /blahedo (t) 22:23, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can move it if you see fit. I resolved the multiple issues by replacing primary with secondary sources. The subject seems to meet WP:GNG guidelines through his major political party nomination in two national elections and the coverage of him in the interim with a decent amount of coverage in foreign media. WP:POLITICIAN reads "being...an unelected candidate for political office...does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the general notability guideline". —  AjaxSmack  17:46, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Cao’s refugee experience is a bit different from many Vietnamese of the time. His parents lived in Ithaca NY for several years while his former for an advanced degree at Cornell. Their first child, a daughter, was born there. Immigration was probably easier with a US citizen in the family. His father’s connections helped him secure a good position with USAID. Hung went to school in west Africa with diplomats’ children. He led a pretty privileged life. Here is the interview where he tells this story. It’s a little different from what he says on the campaign trail.
