Master Han's Date of Birth

[edit]

I see that someone changed the date of Master Han's from 1931 to 1933. Do we know which one is correct. I know the newspapers published the 1933 date but the are plenty of inaccuracies in that widely published article. i'm writing a dedication and I'd like to have the information be accurate.--Mateo2006 15:43, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hanja

[edit]

Does anyone know how to write master Han's full name in hanja?? Kbarends 06:51, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

The article is chalk full of POV. It should be changed. --Bentonia School 06:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC) The remarks about a man of extraordinary magnitude, etcetera, are quotes from a comedy skit Master Han performed in the movie "Kentucky Fried Movie" titled ' A Fistful of Yen '. These lines are inappropriate in the present context of the article on Master Han.[reply]

Name Order

[edit]

Undid Doshin's change of the name order. (I included redirects for various name orders however so every one will find the correct article regardless of what name order they type in.) All Korean names in article are in Korean order as per Wiki rules. It could also be argued that Master Han was an American and so should use American order. It is a toss up as far as I'm concerned however all other Korean names follow the expressed Wiki rules so to only not follow them for Master Han might be a bit confusing. Thoughts? I'm not really attached to either method but I think narrative consistancy is important.--Mateo2006 21:22, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a very late response, but I think it still deserves attention. As one of Grand Master Han's first black belt students here in America, I can attest that he always used the name "Bong Soo Han" while in the States, and therefore, I believe he should be referred to by that name. His book, "Hapkido: Korean Art of Self-Defense" (Ohara Publications, 1974), his instructional video tapes and DVDs (Panther Productions, no date), and his school logo (with his name printed within the top of the logo) all present him as "Bong Soo Han." The transformation of his name after his passing is a misrepresentation and only makes it more difficult for interested parties to locate information about him. How do we change his name back?Spinheel (talk) 02:20, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

I think that much of the POV had been removed from the article and it is on the way to becoming something different that it was when first assessed.

Still needs more content for Master Han's years in America, I think. Also more footnoting for the statements made.--Mateo2006 21:27, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was the photograph of Grand Master Han removed? PhillipAlexHaddox 22:24, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very similar article named Bong Soo Han

[edit]

There's a very similar article about Bong Soo Han that I think should be merged with this one in terms of content, and one of the articles should then redirect to the other. This way, duplication and dispersion of information could be avoided. I would do it, but I don't have much time, nor do I know enough about the subject to take the responsibility.
