Well, I originally wrote this article. I wanted to make mention of Ernie Holmes' teammates. I decides to use asterics to mark off his teammates - one on a line and skipping spaces in between.

I'm not sure this is the best way to do this. thank you, Dan 15:55, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Not sure how good of a source Steelersdepot.com is. Would it pass the test? Some admin should help me out here...pretty please? Dozzzzzzzzzing off (talk) 02:17, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't necessarily dismiss Steelers Depot as a source out of hand — in my experience the blog's self-description as "the most comprehensive Steelers site on the Internet" seems to be quite accurate. As a reader of this blog I have no reason to disparage the accuracy of its reporting or writers. That said, it is merely a "blog" and thus not held to the journalistic standards of a full-fledged "mainstream" media organization. My bigger issue with this particular reference is that the linked article, though it does have some information about Holmes, doesn't appear to contain any of the details that appear in the sentence/paragraph where the reference is used as a citation. I'll take a look at this article in the next few days or weeks (as my schedule allows) to see what I can do to bring it up to par. — DeeJayK (talk) 14:50, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fatso/Fats

[edit]

At least when he was with the Steelers, Holmes was known as "Fats" not "Fatso" (he was also identifiable as "Arrowhead"). He's referred to as Fats in the obituaries that appeared in Pittsburgh media after his death. Since "Fatso" is not specifically sourced in the article, I'm just going to make the change. Apologies if there is some source for "Fatso." Arnold Rothstein1921 (talk) 04:48, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
