Debian GNU/HURD or Debian GNU/Hurd

[edit]

Is GNU HURD to be written in all caps or in a regular way, like Hurd? Allthough HURD in GNU/Hurd is an acronym, its name is Hurd. What will it be? -- 129.177.121.102 13:05, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is written the Hurd. See FAQ about the GNU Hurd -- mms 13:54, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a Tux graphic?

[edit]

Hurd is a kernel, separate and different from the Linux kernel. Tux is the Linux kernel mascot, so why is he associated with an article on Hurd? Hurd has an official icon: see [1]. -- Brandonrunyon (talk) 00:00, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I guess my real question is more why is this a "Linux-distribution" stub? Linux has nothing to do with Hurd. Not even the same authors. This should be a GNU related stub, as Hurd is a GNU project and not a Linux project. --

[edit]

The presently used archive gives 18 June 2017: https://web.archive.org/web/20170929013440/https://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-news - and the next earlier archive.org snapshot, from 16 May 2017, https://web.archive.org/web/20170516065011/https://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-news, lists the 2015 release as the most recent. So 18 June 2017 (also on the present live version of the page) matches the archived and live sources. Boud (talk) 20:02, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
