Contrary information here. Can someone who knows a bit clean up the contradiction between his infobox birthplace in Messina, South Africa and his article description as Zimbabwean-born, for example? Flage (talk) 01:55, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template change for Infobox

[edit]

As per Wikipedia:WikiProject Rugby union/Templates note that the preferred template for rugby biographies is Template:Infobox rugby biography, I made the update, as well as some extra data. SauliH (talk) 05:40, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How tall is Pocock?

[edit]

181cm,[1] whereas today the figure was changed to 184cm. wcrosbie (talk), Melbourne, Australia 06:51, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, not sure what the go is with that website. Back in 2011 it said 181 cm[2] and now it's saying 187 cm.[3]

Should article mention that he is a pretentious twerp? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.109.94 (talk) 23:17, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. And that he is known as "Doormat Dave" by One Nation, as he rolls over and votes with the Govt. Boscaswell talk 10:02, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Assumed Office date

[edit]

The article states that Pocock assumed office on 21 May 2022. This was the day of the election. Confirmation of his election was not announced by the Australian Electoral Commission until all votes were counted and this occurred on 14 June 2022. Additionally, Australian Federal Senators do not begin their terms until 1 July following the election. Zed Seselja remains the sitting senator until this date. 118.208.190.54 (talk) 11:22, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for self-correcting! ITBF (talk) 11:38, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed it's not true for territory senators... whoops. 118.208.190.54 (talk) 11:39, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

In terms of the infobox image, should we prioritise recency and up-to-date appearance of the head (i.e. Commons:File:David Pocock 2021.jpg) or resolution of the image (i.e. Commons:File:David Pocock 2011 (cropped).jpg)? @Alza08, Devonian Wombat, ITBF, and MarioBayo: thoughts? Neegzistuoja (talk) 11:04, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's not ideal, but personally I would prefer the 2021 image simply because the 2011 image shows Pocock in his Wallabies uniform, which obviously is somewhat out of date, considering his current status as a member of the Australian Senate. Devonian Wombat (talk) 11:07, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
^agree with Devonian Wombat. ITBF (talk) 13:27, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
the 2011 image is utterly bizarre. The guy is a federal politician, why should his leading image be of a decade-old conversation on a mobile phone? Global-Cityzen (talk) 04:23, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Devonian Wombat, but what is especially annoying is the number of recent changes removing and replacing the old photo with no edit summary! If I see unexplained edits I am much more likely to revert them. If someone can just put up the new image with the ES saying "See talk page", where it seems we have consensus, it is more likely to stay there.
