Confusion between Codec2 and modulation for RF transmission

[edit]

This article happily mixes technical details of Codec2 with these of the modulations used to transport that (in FreeDV). That is technically wrong and misleading. Marcusmueller ettus (talk) 13:08, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the confusion begins with everything being in the codec2 link library. The library isn't modularized to associate with one part of the solution. It is the typical monolith design. This has nothing to do with FreeDV which is just the GUI part. MonsieurET (talk) 00:26, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't call FreeDV "just the GUI part" but also the various combinations of modulations and codecs that make up each FreeDV mode. Perhaps in the future some of these will be broken out into separate libraries, who knows.
Speaking of FreeDV, it seems a FreeDV page is likely to pass muster since the project has plenty of coverage. I might take up writing a draft for one, but I'd need one or two more pairs of eyeballs on it, especially to find reliable secondary sources.. KetchupSalt (talk) 08:54, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
