Infobox image

[edit]

I changed the infobox image from this to this, though it was reverted by Magnolia677. My rationale for the change was that the original image has a poor composition - the buildings are in the distance and most seem to present their rear or side aspects to the camera, while the view toward them is distracted by clutter in the foreground and middle-distance (wall, shadow, grassy bank, billboards, loads of wires). Magnolia677 disagrees. So other input needed. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 23:39, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The original photo had lines leading to the center of the image. The new photo shows a huge parking lot. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:46, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The original photo doesn't show the buildings properly. It looks like a run-down derelict area. The new photo looks like it shows the centre of somewhere, a central square that's the focus of activity. And the buildings are much closer. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 23:59, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see from this page that "Clarksburg Downtown Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982", and there are several buildings picked out for interest. The new image gives a better indication of why the area might have such a designation, as it shows street frontages of several of these buildings (Hotel Gore, Goff Building, Municipal Building, Union International Bank), whereas in the original image they are more obscured or show only sides/backs. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 00:36, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Both images are nice, I just didn't like the large parking lot, but you make a good point. Perhaps a caption for the second photo: "The Clarksburg Downtown Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places". Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 01:04, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
