Ethnicity in article?

[edit]

Do we know this woman's ethnicity? Not that it matters :) --Tom 14:23, 13 January 2008 (UTC)\\[reply]

NPOV issue

[edit]

Re the appropriate challenge about Ruick's being particularly touching in singing "When I Marry Mr Snow", I request that the comment not be removed soon. I recall that when Ruick sang it, merely auditioning for the part, the cast wept. I can't remember now where I heard this. I suspect it was in, say, Specials on a disk of the film. It'll take me a while to find that thread. In add'n, the remark is true. I just saw the Barbican version in London, where the role was played for straight comedy--strikingly different. Form of Horton's name

[edit]

In the "Marriages" section, I changed the link to the article "Robert Horton (actor)" from Robert Horton, Jr. to Robert Horton. According to the article about him, his birth name is not Robert Horton, Jr., but Meade Howard Horton Jr.. Eddie Blick (talk) 01:33, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth and death

[edit]

Newspaper coverage shows that her body was discovered on the afternoon of the 4th and had been dead for 10-12 hours. On that basis I changed the date of birth from March 3 to March 4, as there were no reliable sources giving the date of her death. Just to be sure I checked the Social Security records on Ancestry. com. These gave the date of death as March 3 but also that the date of birth was 1932, not 1930. Looking back, I noted that this article had always given the date of birth as 1930 without sourcing, and contrary to sourcing at the time of her death that she was born in 1932. Accordingly, I changed the year of birth to 1932. While it is possible that Ms. Ruick lied to Social Security when she got her Social Security number as a young person, it seems remote.

I realize the Social Security records are a primary source, but I think their use is acceptable when there is nothing else. Coretheapple (talk) 20:13, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Changed accordingly. You should watchlist the article. I cannot. 166.199.7.26 (talk) 19:36, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
