It's not unusual to see movies be first announced with a crew and cast just to later be announced with a different cast or crew member. Despicable Me 2 had Al Pacino as El Macho before he stepped down and was replaced by Benjamin Bratt, Ruby Gillman had Paul Tibbitt attached as director but Dreamworks later announced Kirk DeMicco was the director.
