Reviews

[edit]

My recollection (I was 12 when the film was released) is that the film was slammed by critics. Given its eventual status, and if my recollection is correct, then it would be useful to add a section to the article on the 1966 reviews. HairyWombat 04:26, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Affect on the conversation around abortion

[edit]

A year after the film's release, the abortion act was introduced in parliament in Great Britain (legalising abortions on certain grounds by registered practitioners).

The abortion scene in Alfie was so harrowing, and showed how absurd the law was (and how it essentially led to underground abortions) - the film must have had some contributing effect to the law being changed. The film became part of the cultural landscape of the 60s.

Is it possible to somehow add this information? Charliepenandink (talk) 14:28, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
