Hitler an artist?

[edit]

I don't think Adolf Hitler qualifies for this list. Although he had artistic interests he wasn't an artist. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 201.141.163.149 (talk) 20:52, 18 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Uhh... he applied to art school in Vienna long before he was ever involved in politics. There is even an entire article about his paintings. So, yes, like it or not, he was definitely an artist. Vontheri (talk) 06:14, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wolfgang Paalen

[edit]

I don't know how to edit this kind of thing, but the artist Wolfgang Paalen committed suicide in 1959 as did the artist Unica Zurn (the u in Zurn has an umlaut) in 1970.Songflower 06:40, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about the other, more known, artists?

[edit]

such as Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath or Ernest Hemingway? or Ian Curtis (wasn't he an artist as well?) or Kurt Cobain there are alot of famous artists left out. and thank God this was not deleted. it came in very helpful for the project i'm working on about artist's damnation.IleanaCosanziana 20:20, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

oh right, there's a writers who commited suicide category. my bad. in any case, i for one think it best if that be merged with this category. in any case, aren't the most of those "writers" in that category artists? IleanaCosanziana 20:24, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Middle initial

[edit]

Please include Arman Manookian's middle initial of T. It should be Arman T. Manookian. I was unable to do it myself. Monte Melkonian (talk) 21:41, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a category, it simply includes the titles of articles that the category was tagged to. You could move the article to a title with the middle initial, but it doesn't seem warranted per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people) (unless disambiguation is needed with similarly-named individuals or the individual is far better known with the middle name/initial as sourced by references, neither of which fit this case). bahamut0013wordsdeeds 22:37, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please note, for Arman T. Manookian, his middle name had a deep religious significance. The middle initial symbolized the Cross. Please provide a more succinct answer to why he cannot have his middle initial on this page. Should this category be split to "artists who died by suicide" and "musicians who died by suicide"?

[edit]

I was recently looking for a category or list of musicians who died by suicide, but was unable to find such a list. I just now realized that this list includes musicians, in additional to physical artists (ie. painters, sculptors, and such). Of course music is a type of art, but generally there is a distinction made for music. Does anyone else have any thoughts about splitting this category as I'm proposing? I think it would be more useful to our readers that way. Vontheri (talk) 06:08, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
