New image rescaling feature breaking existing image links

Description

User upgraded WordPress to 5.3, and then used wp-cli to regenerate all media thumbnails. This broke existing media links for files that were regenerated due to being too large.

Can you post some examples of what broke please:

  • The existing links (the domain can be removed if you prefer to keep them private).
  • The content of the image meta for the attachment post (if possible).
  • A listing of the actual files that are in the upload dir (can be seen by using FTP or the hosting control panel).
