Description

I would like to embed GitHub gist with multiple files in two ways.
Either all at once
https://gist.github.com/Ben1980/eff74449bd362c06ee99226a3c5caccd
Or each file seperately

Hey @bmahr,

Thanks for this ticket, and welcome to Trac!

I do not believe that GitHub is officially an oEmbed provider, which is what WordPress embeds currently work as. Afe you able to find any information that says differently?

GitHub does provide a dropdown at the top of each Gist to copy embed code to accomplish this without any changes to WordPress. There are also several plugins that will accomplish this.

I am going to mark this as a candidate to close, pending further feedback.

Im using it quite frequently for single files. See https://thoughts-on-cpp.com
Here's also a linkt refering to gist support:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/gist/

i dont know about oEmbed. But it would be really convenient to refer to a file with #filename at end of url.
GitHub is at least supporting this.

Ah! The site that you have linked appears to be hosted on WordPress.com. The [gist] shortcode and embed is only supported there, not in the WordPress.org version of the WordPress software that this Trac instance works to maintain.

Please open a support request with WordPress.com support if you are still experiencing issues.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
