Description

Got this error message until I manually removed the gutenberg directory from the plugins directory. I had gutenberg version 3.4.0 previously installed. The error occurred on all site pages, I believe.

Page: http://dkprojects.net/qtest/wp-admin/network/about.php?updated

Message: Fatal error: Cannot declare class WP_REST_Blocks_Controller, because the name is already in use in /home3/whereisq/public_html/qtest/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/lib/class-wp-rest-blocks-controller.php on line 123

Welcome to Trac and thanks for opening the ticket!

Although Gutenberg is now in core, active development and contributions are still in Github.
Just a suggestion: Creating issue at https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg might be more helpful.

Hi @dan-kirshner thanks for the report.

This issue was reported upstream on the Gutenberg repo where active development occurs;
https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/14864

In the above-mentioned ticket, it was recommended to update the plugin first as this affected old versions. *If you can't access the admin you can update via FTP.

You can test by installing the latest version of Gutenberg and if the issue continues feel free to re-open the report on that repo where active development is done for the block editor.

I'm going to close this report as it's been resolved upstream in Gutenberg.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
