Description

Hi there,

With 4.8 the paste functionality seems to have changed in the visual editor.

When I paste a list of items into the 4.8 visual editor from a text editor it now strips all "line breaks" and I end up with one big paragraph. I can still paste the list in text view and switch back to visual view and it keeps the line breaks.

This has changed in this new version. I do this process as a daily activity.

Hi @AngusMcKinnon Welcome to Trac!

I copied a long list of items and pasted it in visual editor directly, which stays fine for me.
When I Edit the post the list still stays fine. And when I load the page the list comes up as it should. Please see the screenshots.

Is there a specific way to reproduce the issue?

Can you please try to reproduce the issue once again by deactivating your plugins?

Works properly here too. This may be related to where you copy the text from. Maybe try copying from few different sources: another web page, a text editor, a textarea. Can also try refreshing the browser cache. If still the same, maybe try disabling any plugins that add functionality to the editor and switch to a default theme.

Hm. I tried again this afternoon with notepad and editpad and linebreaks stripped. Ill have a go with turning off plugins and report back.

I turned off all WP plugins, all Chrome plugins, cleared the cache and still all line breaks get stripped. I didn't disable the theme I am using, but it is one of the top selling themes and no one has reported an issue. The only thing that changed was the WP upgrade. Its a process I have done every day for 6 months and the only variable was the update.

Minor update - I installed 2017 theme and all linebreaks still stripped using that.
