When using Press This as a launch pad to edit a longer blog post, additional images added are inserted at the top of the post, rather than in the space in which the cursor has been placed.

  • Keywords needs-patch good-first-bug added
  • Milestone changed from Awaiting Review to Future Release
  • Version changed from 4.4.2 to 4.2

Thanks @mrjarbenne for the report and my apologies for not acknowledging it until now. I couldn't duplicate on the desktop, so it is likely isolated to iOS as you stated.

@kraftbj from what I see, it is because @mrjarbenne phone's virtual keyboard is closed which cause cursor is lost
If you tried to do the same thing without closing the virtual keyboard (by trying to scroll the page to the bottom) then it works fine
The same behaviour happened on normal post so it is not specifically related with "Press This"
So I don't think it is a bug
Further improvement might be to implement a feature request to memorize last cursor position on mobile?

  • Component changed from Press This to Editor
  • Summary changed from Inserting Image on iOS Doesn't Respect Cursor Position in Press This editor to Inserting Image on iOS Doesn't Respect Cursor Position

Based on https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/36159#comment:2 and Press This moving to a separate plugin, I'm moving this into the Editor component.
