Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King 「ブラッククローバー 魔法帝の剣 Burakku Kurōbā Mahōtei no Ken」 is the first animated feature of the Black Clover series. It was directed by Ayataka Tanemura[2] and produced by Studio Pierrot. Initially set to be released on March 31, 2023 in Japan at Friday Roadshow, as well as worldwide through Netflix,[3] it was postponed until June 16, 2023 due to a coronavirus outbreak.[4]
Attendees in Japan will receive a special booklet, Volume 23.5, which contains character sketches, cast and staff interviews, and a 20-page tie-in story.
Plot[]
- The events of the movie take place between the Elf Reincarnation Arc and the Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc.
The Clover Kingdom is celebrating and watching the Triumph, a fighting tournament held every ten years. However, the first match is interrupted by the return of Conrad Leto, the 27th Wizard King who had been sealed away by Julius Novachrono for turning against the kingdom. Together with the Imperial Sword "Elsdocia", Conrad has revived three dead Wizard Kings—Princia Funnybunny, Jester Garandros, and Edward Avalaché—and enacts his plan to turn the colosseum into a weapon. Asta and the other Magic Knights must find a way to stop the Wizard Kings from destroying the Clover Kingdom.
