well all challenges really want you to not be on peaceful, or one of the dangers are just gone.
i recommend hard though, it makes going out to slay skellies for bone meal, or zombies for food a real risk/reward situation.
i have a few tips for players, obviosuly make sure you grab the sapplings and start a tree farm quickly.
for the love of god, the absolute very very very first thing you do is make a hoe, and get as many seeds as you can and plant them fast. if you return above ground during nights then do it now, if you decide like me youll never return to the surface, dig quickly. unless you kill a zombie wheat is your only food. passive mobs will not spawn in ocean biomes, so the only food you will get is what you grow, find in a chest ((which i have not)) or if your lucky to find a zombie (ive only gotten creepers and a skelly))
id suggest that when you get to the ravine, you seriously concider mining your way down to a lava pool. i set up camp high up on the ledges, but im learning a valuable lesson in resources. my trees have yet to grow, and wood is valuable. if you get to a pool and mine some iron you can use the lava as lights everywhere (less torch relience) which adds up as you expand.
plan your mining carefully, dont mine every peice of iron at the start you see, or tons of un needed stone. until you get a large farm going, food is a major issue, mining and fighting cause hunger to go faster. for a long time you will only be able to do minor work.
For some crazy reason, I decided to try this. I'm playing on Normal difficulty with no particular restrictions. Given my history, I figure the challenge will be challenging enough without giving up torches or playing with one eye closed or whatever it is you experts do to make things interesting.
You can find this by typing %appdata% in the "search all programs and files" bar (in the start menu), if you're using Windows Vista or 7.
Or, easier still, open up minecraft 1.8 and create a new world, with "GiantRavine" as the world seed.
im on a mac so yeah lol i got it to work and started xD
y not? r u a pirate?
