Could you add some little things like cold, wet and hot behaviors ?For example if you are too hot , your fatigue increases more rapidly, if you are completely wet by rain, you begin to be cold and you lose your energy like in real life. Some sort of things like that, and your mod will be perfect !
quoting this in the hopes that it will get considered! i think it would be best to base it on what the player is wearing, too.
Yeah, excellent idea !
For this he needs to craft a wool based wearing and so on ...
The sheep will have a true utility , and the wool will be used for real purposes, not only decoration !
And the sugar canes can be used for crafting clothes like cotton or another fiber.
The energy/hunger/thirst part of this mod sounds fantastic.
I would install this if only the limited lives were an option. I understand how it makes the game much harder and more rewarding, but it's just not how I would like to play...

Do it anyway. You can increase you max hearts up to 8 or 9 i think. Playing minecraft is much more of a strategic exercise when you have to think about securing food or water in the short-term, and even more fun in the long term. Food acquisition and agriculture actually feel like that have a purpose rather then just as an insurance policy if you take damage.
Also finite liquid mod makes this survivalism even more outstanding. I have a small home under a valley. When it rains i have a 1 tiny hole punched into the floor of the valley that funnels water into a pipe system made out of nothing but standard wood blocks. It descends downward and then runs the length of my food preparing area and contains a few glass blocks to help me judge what the water level is. To collect the water i just use the grate block from finite liquid and a lever and spill it into a small recessed cistern. Just remember, when building your house to have a drainage system.
Sometimes when it rains, depending on the topography stuff floods.

Well... you convinced me. :wink.gif:
Trying it now. I'm glad there's a way to cheat perma-death, but I'll try not to use it!

I was really hoping that something like this get released to minecraft, the mod is exactly what i was looking. This adds a new layer of realism to this game, something that was laking. But in my oppinion the way the mod deals with thirst/energy/hungry is a little bit disconnected. The only thing i would add to would be an equation: Your energy is tied to the thirst/hungry. The maximum energy you have is basically (thirst+hungry)/2. This would make more sense since the energy the body needs is usually tied to the amount of "food" the user get.
Other thing: The amount of time the player needs to starve to death is in my opinion short. I'm using 3 days to starve, enough to play without problems. But the amount of time needed to fill your inventory with food is too long forcing the player to keep hunting/fishing/growing crops. I was using the Nature Overhaul with makes the trees grow apples, nice mod to use with this. But players using the vanilla game can face some problems getting food. Make food more efficient, a grilled pork should be able to fill almost the entire hungry bar.
The mod is awesome, but IMO this needs some small and punctual tweaks. I will keep using this mod and happily clicking the ad.fly link (usually i press the link a LOT of times to get you some extra clicks).
I will show this mod to some friends get more views and users, this mod awesome. Thanks for your mod and i hope you get the support and the credit you need.
by the way, this mod is 100% compatible with the rareores mod by masterdeity maybe add it to compatibles list? and masterdiety uses your mod and says he likes it. nice job getting another mod creator to use your mod :biggrin.gif:

Actually I like it that way. It's a really tough at the beginning as you're spending a lot of time hunting, but after you get a wheat farm going it gets a lot easier, and you can spend more time doing other things.

I agree with you that the deletion of your world isn't something i would say is positive about this mod. Some people might like it but i find it to be a potential irritation, in that you never see your world again. What somebody suggested to voodoo frog, i thought was a good idea, when you die you are teleported 2000 m away from your spawn and your spawn is also reset. So you have no idea where you are and have to find your way back.
Another thing i don't like to much is that in order to drink you need leather. So when i started a new world i tried standing in the water and i even had iron before i could get leather but you can't drink from a pale either. I wish there was an easier way to drink like right clicking on water or making something simple with wood that you can drink from but only stores one sip and drains it's contents if you unequip it. This would still force you to get the leather but you wouldn't dehydrate because of lack of cows.
This morning I have taken a small break from working on Survivalism to work on a Calendar mod. Reason being that if I manage to get that working then creating my grave markers will be a whole lot easier.
If, however, folks want me to release a testing version without grave markers I can do that. It includes all the modes I mentioned the other day and has bugfixes for the waterskin not emptying properly and the gui being too compressed on smaller screens and even includes a way to force the gui to the new "compact" layout in the options if you prefer. It will probably need some serious testing though as I cannot be 100% sure it's all working as intended. It certainly seems to be from my own testing. I'd need reports on how the new modes are working as a priority.
Id be willing to test it, as i now dont see myself playing minecraft without this mod. All this stuff really is stuff that should be in vanilla minecraft, makes it so much better.
I'm probably even going to start an LP with this and a few other mods (campcraft, Somnia, humans+ etc) quite soon. And i shall report back with any issues i find. I will of course start with a fresh jar and have just your mod, to discount any compatibility problems, then start adding afterwards.
Have you read the post that details the new gamemodes, yeah?
The only bad thing with this mod, is when dying for the las time : it crashes minecraft instead of return to the title screen.
A null pointer exception error.
And when i manage to change the number of lives, in the menu, then there still are three hearts, nothing changes at all.
Last but not least : i don't really understand the meaning of the " starving and thirst rates " in the menu, can you explain me please ?
Thx.
