You are up and going, ready for the upcoming adventure.
But something seems odd...
You feel thirsty, but not like the regular kind of thirst.
You are thirsty... for blood.
you suddenly get hurt.
nothing is visible near you... so what has done it?
Then you realize...
Your life depends on other creatures.
The clock is ticking. The only way to stop it is by stealing life from others.
So what the heck is this!?
This is a brand new game type that challenges you beyond the limits of hardcore.
In The Vampirical Hard Core (VHC), you have a timer that shows the amount of time you have left to live.
The only way to restore the lost time is by killing other creatures and "stealing" their life, similarly to what a vampire does.
Game Styles
Single Player
This game style has one thing in store:
Live as long as possible!
In all my trials of the game, I have never been able to get back to or beyond the beginning time. However, it is very possible.
I survived for about 40 minutes into the game.
Post down below how long you lived, because I know you can beat my high score
Multiplayer
Wait... There is a multiplayer style!?
Yes, and in fact, two types of multiplayer!
Versus!
This game style features a gameplay very similar to the UHC series. The point:
Be the last man (or team) to survive!
since PvP IS enabled, this allows players to fight each other and add some spice to the gameplay, in addition to the time constraint. Killing players also adds time!
if you are dealing with large amount of teams in the game, don't modify the spread distance.
If you are deal with a small amount of players, reduce the max spread distance to 1000 in order to do the work.
Co-op
This game style is the hardest of all:
Try to survive TOGETHER for the longest time!
Although you have multiplied the power, you divided the gain of additional life, making the amount of animals needed to be killed to multiply greatly!
In order for this to work you must create a team and put you and your partners in it so you won't be placed apart.
I recommend this only to the experienced players. This is no game style for new hardcorists.
Modified Gameplay
This game also allows you to modify.
By default:
The game type spreads all player (respecting teams) at least 500 blocks apart across an area with a radius of 5000 blocks. I am planning to reduce these giant numbers in future updates.
The timer starts at 600 seconds.
The timer and decreases every two seconds by 2 (couldn't do better, sorry).
Every kill increases your time to live by ten seconds, no matter what was killed.
You go into "berserk mode" when your timer is at ten seconds or less.
However, you are able to easily modify it by accessing the command blocks within the structure and change the text in them. I placed signs on most command blocks to show which one does what.
Downloading
All you need to do is either:
1. Open one of the pre-made maps
2. paste the VHC structure on a generated world
and you are good to go!
This game works in 1.7.9 but will work best in the 1.8 release (when spectator game mode is available)
Here are some tips I learned from my newbie mistakes:
Kill any passive mob available. If you can, breed the animals since killing baby animals is the same as killing adult ones (so sad...)
Stay near the surface and spend as much less time underground. Make sure you always have a fast path to the surface when mining.
Do NOT look for diamonds! If you stumble across them when looking for iron, you surely can take them, but don't spend your time looking for those rare beauties... you will die while searching.
Monster Spawners are only temporary boosters, they will not solve your time problems.
Chickens are the best animals you can find. Annoying, but good for time.
Do not try to skip night time. Hostiles are good source of time.
Try locating yourself near dark biomes (ex. Roofed Forest), or open biomes with plenty of mob spawns (ex. plains, or dessert at night).
Listen to the advice others give.
FAQ
Q: No pics, no clicks! Muhahahahaha!
A: This is NOT a map. This is a game type, pictures are not applicable in here. However, if you give me links to gameplay videos I will be sure to put them on my next update of this game!
Q: What program should I use to paste the VHC structure?
A: I used MC Edit to export the structure. the file might be applicable with other programs but I am not sure.
Q: This was too easy! I want a real challenge!
A: If even modifying it to the hardest does not satisfy you, you can always combine UHC with VHC by simply typing /gamerule naturalRegeneration false before the game starts to create the UVHC. I do not recommend this game type at all since it is nearly impossible and not fun at all.
Q: I just pressed the button and the terrain is not loading. What should I do?
A: Nothing but wait. The gameplay will take time to load since you are teleporting across large distances. the game did not set up the timer yet, and once the world loads it should start going.
Q: I found a bug.
A: If you in fact found a bug in the gameplay, post it and I will make sure to fix it in the next update
