At Local First Arizona, volunteers are one of the most powerful ways to help us mobilize local communities across the state. The time and passion dedicated from our volunteers aid in supporting our work while creating dynamic ways to empower individuals to ‘go local’!
Volunteers are always needed and a variety of volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year. Time commitments and responsibilities vary, but we have something for everyone!
Events
Our general event volunteers support staff in a variety of roles and responsibilities at our signature events and graduations. From registration to vendor check in, these volunteers are considered a “jack of all trades’”
Event Waste Diversion (Green Team)
Interested in a sustainable future for Arizona? Our Green Team volunteers divert waste and educate the public at our signature events and graduations. Green Team volunteers are not afraid of getting dirty to make a difference!
Community Garden
Volunteers assist in cleaning out garden boxes, prepping beds, laying compost and planting seeds and seedlings out of our El Rancho Community Garden in Mesa. No previous garden experience needed!
Gathering Content At Events
Calling all creatives! Our content volunteers capture pictures at our signature events and graduations. These pictures will be used to highlight the amazing work of our volunteers and be shown in Local First newsletters, blogs and other publications.
Keep Arizona Beautiful
Since 1984, Keep Arizona Beautiful has worked with citizens across rural Arizona to organize and implement local initiatives that keep our state clean and beautiful, including litter abatement efforts, recycling programs, illegal dumping prevention, and community beautification projects.
Now a Local First Arizona initiative, Keep Arizona Beautiful will continue to provide guidance and support to rural communities through project planning and management, event promotion, “best practices” education, and more!
Office/Administrative Support
Directly support local first staff in various administrative tasks like research, mailings and flier drop-off. Depending on the work, this position can be done remotely.
