- Given as a quest reward for completing certain Pioneer Scouts quests such as Operation Tidy and Stings and Things
- The Pemmican Collector a scoreboard reward from Season 17, collects up to 10 Pemmicans passively over time.

If Pemmican is eaten, when both the Carnivore mutation and the Strange in Numbers perk is active, the player will get a buff of 8 endurance points. Which results in a temporary buff of +40 max HP. Pemmican's positive +max HP effect can be stacked with the +max HP effect of the Fasnacht Sausage, because Pemmican only buffs the max HP indirectly, while the Fasnacht Sausage buffs the max HP directly.
