Namono "Nono" is Annushka Volovodov's wife. They have a daughter who is also named Namono, but who they call "Nami".

Nono has a broad, flat nose and coffee-colored skin.

Background[]
Nono was born and grew up in Abuja, Nigeria on Earth. She has an older twin[1] and also has some family in Uganda.[2]
Nono met her future wife Anna at a faith conference in Uganda. The couple later moved to New Dolinsk on Europa, where Anna got a posting at the local St. John's United congregation. Anna was three months pregnant at the time. They named their daughter Namono (after Nono herself) but call her "Nami". The family has lived on Europa for two years.[2]
Nono moves with Nami from Europa back to Earth at the start of Abaddon's Gate, just before Anna left for the Thomas Prince and the Ring. Nono encouraged Anna to go because the UN delegation could need people there like Anna, "people who don't ask permission." Nono doesn't come along because she is afraid of the Ring and also doesn't want their daughter to grow up in low gravity for such an extended time that her body could never adjust to living in full-g. Nono and Nami settle down in Moscow, where they wait for Anna to return from the Ring.[2]

Nono, Anna, and their daughter are on Earth during the Free Navy's attack. Her community is devastated, and she goes from a middle-class, well-off citizen, to someone who now must rely on Basic, government assistance level living standards. During this time, Namono cares for Anna who has been hurt with a crushed and bruised leg.[1]
Trivia[]
- Her name means "youngest twin" in her native Uganda. The fact that her daughter has that same name supports the idea that, aside from sharing one of her mothers' names, the child, Nami, lost a sibling at birth. That the child's namesake was the mother is asserted and affirmed in the novel Abaddon's Gate.
