Where to Find Every Map Fragment in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

There are 5 map fragments in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. Two of them are easy enough to get your hands on, a third requires a bit of exploration, and the remaining two were particularly challenging for me to locate. We’ll go over each of them in the order you’re most likely to find them, though you can technically find them in any order, provided you explore enough.

Gravesite Plain Map Fragment Location

As the one for the opening area to the DLC, the Gravesite Plain map fragment is the easiest to find. As soon as you enter the Realm of Shadow, travel slightly northeast of the first Site of Grace. You’ll need to go just to the south of the small ruin you can see from that opening Grace, where the stele holding the fragment sits.

The second and almost equally obvious map fragment you’re likely to find is the one in the Scadu Altus. Most first playthroughs will take you through Castle Ensis and Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, but there is a shortcut to Scadu Altus you can take that avoids Rellana entirely.

Either way, finding the Altus map fragment is easy. From the Highroad Cross Site of Grace, which is just northeast of Castle Ensis, continue north toward the Shadow Keep. If you took the shortcut, go west from the Fort of Reprimand until you reach the main road leading toward the keep. You’ll encounter a black knight on horseback, but you can avoid him by finding the map fragment just before the large encampment at the base of the castle.

Southern Shore, Cerulean Coast Map Fragment Location

There are several ways to reach the Cerulean Coast map fragment, titled the Southern Shore, but by far the easiest is to travel southeast from the Castle Front Site of Grace in front of Castle Ensis, much like you would if you were looking to get to the Rakshasa’s Great Katana, but hang against the eastern cliff edge. You should eventually reach a set of platforms leading down into a Miyazaki-patented Poison Swamp (TM).

Make your way all the way down until you see Mr. Krabs and some Miranda flowers at the lowest level. Rather than continue south, turn west, and you should see a cave leading into the cliffside.

Follow the cave through to the west until you reach the larger river basin past the Site of Grace, then turn south. Keep going south all the way to the end of the road, then you’ll turn west again into another opening in the cliff face. Look for the blue light, and you’ll have reached the Cerulean Coast.

From the Site of Grace nearest the Coast’s entrance, head directly south until you see a small pass between two short cliffs. You should find the map fragment there.

Rauh Ruins Map Fragment Location

The first of two map fragments I couldn’t find for literally dozens of hours, the Rauh Ruins fragment isn’t hidden so much as it is quite the walk. And it is a little hidden. To reach it, start at the Highroad Cross Site of Grace north of Castle Ensis. From there, travel east to Moorth Ruins, then head north toward the small pond. At the said pond, you should see a headless statue of Marika leading into a cave. Head toward it and into the cave.

Make your way through the cave, past the perfumers and Miranda flowers, until you reach another of Miyazaki’s patented Poison Swamps (TM). Continue making your way west until you eventually reach an area called Rauh Base. Grab the site of Grace there, and keep going west.

You’ll eventually need to get past or kill a pair of golems, and you’ll see the map fragment just before you get to another ruin, the Temple Town Ruins.

Abyss, Abyssal Woods Map Fragment Location

The likely final map fragment you’ll find in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, getting to the Abyss and the Abyssal Forest, is quite the ordeal. There are several steps:

  • Find the coffin hidden in the Shadow Keep. From the rampart northeast of the Golden Hippopotamus fight, go down the ladder near a corpse, then around and to the left, behind a waterfall. Go down the ladder, hit the right-hand illusory wall, then take the coffin beyond down to the lake east of the Keep.
  • Travel south from the Castle Watering Hole Site of Grace along the riverbed, going down whenever the opportunity presents itself.
  • You’ll eventually reach the Darklight Catacombs at the lowest point you can reach, on a foggy plain below a final set of gravestone platforms. Make your way through, down three very long elevators.
  • Defeat the Jori, Elder Inquisitor mob boss.
  • Once in the Abyssal Woods proper, you’ll lose access to Torrent. Head straight south and then southeast until you see a church in the distance. The map fragment is close by.

Once you collect the Abyssal Woods map fragment, you will have technical access to finding everything in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. Of course, because the DLC uses verticality rather than width to increase its size, there’s a lot you won’t necessarily find with the maps alone.
