Stardew Valley: Truffle Farming Guide

Finish the Chef's Bundle and start crafting Truffle Oil through farming Truffles!

Unless you bought a JojaMart membership, you’ll need a Truffle for one Community Center bundle. Plus, you need to make Truffle Oil for a different bundle. As such, you’ll want to find a way to get at least a handful of them. Here’s my Stardew Valley Truffle farming guide.

How to Farm Truffles in Stardew Valley

There are two primary ways to get Truffles. The first is to have pigs on your farm and let them dig up Truffles. As such, that’s the most consistent method and yields the most Truffles. You can also purchase Truffles from the Traveling Merchant, but her stock is random, so you can’t guarantee that she’ll have one.

Getting a Pig to Dig Up Truffles in Stardew Valley

So, the most reliable farming method for Truffles is purchasing a pig for your farm. Before Marnie sells you one, you need to have Robin upgrade your Barn into a Deluxe Barn, which requires the Big Barn upgrade first if you haven’t already purchased it. Once your Deluxe Barn is complete, go to Marnie’s house to the south of your property and select “Purchase Animals.”  Choose a pig from the options, and a piglet will appear in your barn.

Your pig needs to age into an adult before it finds Truffles for it. Since this takes about a month, continue doing other tasks while you keep it well-fed, and pet it each day to increase affection. Once your pig reaches adulthood and it’s not winter, open the Barn, so your animals can roam the yard. I make sure to have some grass in the yard when they roam as well. But after releasing the animals, simply wait and do other tasks.

Pigs dig up Truffles, and it makes a sound effect if you’re nearby. So, once you hear it while dealing with crops and such, head over and pick up your Truffle.

That concludes my Truffle farming guide for Stardew Valley. However, you also want to note that your Luck for the day affects the odds of your pig finding Truffles. As such, make sure you let them roam the yard when you have good luck.
