How to Play Sentinel in Star Wars: Hunters

As we stated before, you must play Sentinel as a tank. That means taking damage away from your teammates and providing fire support when dangerous enemies come too close to an objective or weak ally.

A good combo or strategy to employ as Sentinel is to start a fight using Combat Shield and save Suppressing Shot and Barrel Slam in case enemies get too close or overwhelm you.

Fighting against damage hunters is not a good idea as they deal tons of damage. Your best bet when facing them is to keep your distance and use Combat Shield frequently. While playing Star Wars: Hunters, I’ve encountered many Sentinel players using Combat Shield mid-fight, a huge mistake as you could die quickly if the enemy team’s damage hunters focus on you. So use Combat Shield as soon as you see someone from the enemy team.

While you have your Combat Shield up, take any chance you get to damage enemy hunters. The improved fire rate is great for dealing damage to enemy tanks and support characters to keep them at bay. Healers will make team fights a nightmare as they keep healing their teams, so keep an eye on hunters like Zaina and start shooting at her as soon as you can.

Another thing to keep in mind is to be aware of enemies flanking your position. When you use Combat Shield, you tend to focus on what’s in front of you, but the enemy team could take advantage of this and flank you. Flanking Sentinel could be deadly easily as your mobility is limited when using the Combat Shield. If you are flanked, your best bet is to use Barrel Slam and run away from the encounter.

If you are fighting against the enemy team and your shield is not doing a good job of protecting your allies, you can use Empire’s Finest to absorb damage from them and increase your firepower momentarily.

Sentinel’s Abilities and Role in Star Wars: Hunters

Sentinel is a tank, meaning he is designed to absorb damage while his team takes on the objective or kills other enemies. Playing Sentinel as a damage hero will only result in your team losing the match, so using your shields and abilities to negate damage and allow your teammates to inflict damage from a distance will be your way to victory.

Keep on reading to find out more about his abilities and how you can best use them.

Combat Shield

This ability deploys an energy shield on the barrel of Sentinel’s gun, blocking incoming damage from his enemies. You must use this ability to push the enemy team or take an objective on the map. Besides deploying an energy shield, Combat Shield improves Sentinel’s weapon fire rate. These are Combat Shield’s base stats:

  • Shield health: 275 health points.
  • Cooldown: 12 seconds.
  • Shield regeneration: 6 health points per second.
  • Shield regeneration delay: 2 seconds.

These stats are enhanced as you play with the character and use his abilities, so playing Sentinel will improve with time.

Suppressing Shot

This ability makes Sentinel charge his E-web heavy repeater and shoot a suppression shot at a single enemy, knocking him down at the expense of weapon heat. Suppressing Shot is a great ability to stop damage hunters like Rieve and J-3DI, as melee characters tend to do heavy damage quickly. Suppressing Shot has the following stats:

  • Damage: 40.
  • Cooldown: 10 seconds.
  • Knockdown duration: 2.2 seconds.
  • Heat generation: 25.

Barrel Slam

Sentinel’s melee on paper may seem like a copy of Suppressing Shot. Unlike the former ability, Barrel Slam can knock back several enemies at once and doesn’t generate heat, so you can use it without overheating the weapon. Barrel Slam has the following stats:

  • Damage: 40.
  • Knockback Force: 1.740.

Empire’s Finest

Sentinel’s ultimate summons two stormtroopers to follow you and fire at your enemies. This ultimate ability comes into play when you are alone and need some support to absorb damage.
