Using Formations in MOW2

Formations are a new feature in Men of War 2 that lets you customize your on-the-ground units more easily than ever. At the click of a button, you can change the formation of each unit, which alters the direction in which they stand.

You’ll find the formations available in the bottom left corner of the screen when you have a unit selected. There are five formations to choose from: Line, Cover, Wedge, Column, and Assault. Each one offers a unique strategy against enemies. You’ll simply select a unit, a formation, and then click where you’d like them to stand. After, the unit will move into the new formation you’ve selected.

Line Formation

Units stand in a horizontal line. This is useful for behind half-walls or trenches.

Cover Formation

Units stand in a square-like shape. Cover is great for heading into tight areas with enemy units around.

Wedge Formation

Units stand in an arrow-like shape. Flexible and useful in many situations.

Column Formation

Units stand in columns. This is useful when traversing roads or between buildings or, better yet, when traveling behind a tank or vehicle for cover.

Units stand in a flexible format, adjusting to the assault at hand. This is useful when you’re looking to play aggressively.

Of course, using a formation in Men of War 2 is optional. I oftentimes opt to have my units automatically fall into a formation by selecting them toward an environmental object or shrubbery for cover. So, don’t feel pressed to select a formation at all times. You’ll do just fine either way.

That does it for all formations and how to use them in Men of War 2. Stay tuned with us here for more Men of War 2 tips and tricks.
