The final quest of the “By the Stars” chapter in Dark and Darker involves finding and killing a bunch of Mimics, which are monsters disguised as treasure chests. In this guide, I’ll show you all the Mimic Lair locations in Dark and Darker, which are a part of the Fortune Teller’s “Pulling Back the Veil” quest puzzle.
Mimic Lairs Locations in Dark and Darker
There are two Mimic Lairs in the dungeons of Dark and Darker. You can find one of them inside the first Howling Crypt, while the other one hides inside the fifth Howling Crypt. In either case, you need to get there and locate at least three Mimic chests to finish the quest. On top of that, you need to kill at least three Death Skulls and three Death Beetles.
Crypt 1 Mimic Lair Location
The first Mimic Lair is hidden in the southwestern corner of Crypt 1. You need to pass through the central vault room and move into the Storeroom and Hall D. There, you’ll find the entrance into the Mimic Lair to the south of the Sanctum.
Crypt 5 Mimic Lair Location
To get to the second Mimic Lair, I need to push through another four Howling Crypts until I reach Crypt 5. This one can be seen in the southeastern corner, squeezed between the corridors, the tombs, and the barracks. If you weren’t able to get all three Mimics in the first lair, then you’ll have to get here sooner or later.
Fortune Teller’s Pulling Back the Veil Quest Rewards
After killing all the Mimics, Death Beetles, and Death Skulls, make your way back to the Fortune Teller for the following rewards:
- 50x Unique Gold Coins
- 1x Uncommon Ring of Vitality
- 3x Uncommon Potion of Luck
- 40x EXP
- 25x Affinity
