Clerics have access to seven subclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3. Only the Wizard class has more. Light Domain
This subclass combines both offense and defense in such a way that you never waste a single action resource. It unlocks Fireball at level five, which is one of the best offensive spells in the game. But there are many other excellent features, including Warding Flare, which protects you from incoming damag; and Radiance of the Dawn, a powerful magic AoE. The Light Domain is the best Cleric subclass for casters who want to use their Wisdom modifier on cantrips.

Life Domain
If your goal is to fully support your party with healing and defensive magic, then Life Domian would be a much more suitable option. Even if your allies die in combat, you can resurrect them with the help of the Revivify spell and fully heal them with Cure Wounds. But you can also increase their Attack Rolls and Saving Throws with the help of the Bless spell. This is a full-on supporter-healer subclass!
War Domain
It may sound strange if you don’t play DnD, but Clerics can easily turn into melee combat machines with heavy armor. The War Domain subclass utilizes spells in ways that boost your own melee damage and buff your party’s attack power. I was most impressed with the Spirit Guardians domain spell, which summons ghostly spirits that come to aid you in combat.
Tempest Domain
Here’s another combat-based subclass with a greater focus on close-range combat and Lightning magic. You can get the best results with the Tempest Cleric when multiclassing as a Wizard, who can learn Chain Lightning via a scroll. You can then freecast it and critically hit enemies each time. Unfortunately the Tempest subclass is quite mediocre, but makes for some interesting multiclass combinations.
Trickery Domain
Team support can be achieved in various ways, and Trickery Domain offers a number of spells that grant useful and unique abilities. Try Mirror Image and Dimension Door for better mobility, Fear and Charm Person to disrupt enemies, and Blessing of the Trickster for improved stealth. This is a useful but limited subclass.
Knowledge Domain
The Knowledge Domain is focused primarily on crowd control. You can achieve a lot with only a couple of spells, such as Sleep and Slow. But there’s also the Knowledge of the Ages action that lets you gain proficiency in the skills of any ability you choose. This opens up a lot of doors, but it also implies that you need to multiclass to achieve the best results.
Nature Domain
If you want to get in touch with nature as a Cleric in Baldur’s Gate 3, then Nature Domain is your only option. This effect is achievable with the help of Speak with Animals and Animal Friendship spells. But I’d rather suggest you select the Druid class for that purpose, unless you really want to play as a Cleric in this role.
