To start the entire “Humble Beginnings” chapter in Dark and Darker, you need to explore all the barracks in the dungeons. In this guide, I’ll show you all the barracks locations in Dark and Darker, including all the rewards that you’ll get when you find them all during the “Missing Map” quest given by the Tavern Master.
Dark and Darker: All Barracks Locations
I discovered that there’s a total of 4 barracks in Dark and Darker. Each of them can be found inside a different Howling Crypt located on the second floor of the Forgotten Castle. Note that you’ll be able to access these crypts only via the Red Portals, which you can find inside The Ruins. These crypts are typically infested with wraiths and skeletons.
Crypt 2 Barracks Location
I spotted the first barracks in the second Howling Crypt, in the southwestern part of the map. You need to move through the central maze and pass the broken bridge. Then, you should find the barracks between the Old Tomb and the Underground Altar. Alternatively, you can pass through the Pyramid and the Mummy Chest, which is a more direct route but possibly more dangerous.
Crypt 3 Barracks Location
You can see the next location at the western edge of the third Howling Crypt. You need to reach the Four Rooms in the center of the dungeon and then move towards the Chapel. Once you’re there, you should be able to find the barracks between the Dark Magic Library and the Long Bridge.
Crypt 5 Barracks Location
After passing through the fourth crypt and entering the fifth one, look out for the barracks on the eastern edge of the map. If you pass through the central Wheel and enter the gated rooms, you should be able to easily access the Tombs area. There, I spotted the barracks between the hallways and the Mimic Lair.
Crypt 6 Barracks Location
The final barracks can be found in the final Howling Crypt at the northeastern edge of the map. The best way to reach them is to pass through the Central Altar room and enter the Cliffs area. From there on, look out for the barracks between the Admiral’s Room and the cemetery.
Tavern Master’s Missing Map Quest Rewards
If you are able to find all the barracks and explore them for the missing map, then you’ll unlock the next quest in the chapter, “Comes With the Territory,” and ultimately fight the Skeleton Footmen, Skeleton Guardmen, and Skeleton Archers. In the end, the Tavern Master will reward you with the following items:
- 50x Unique Gold Coins.
- 3x Uncommon Potions of Protection.
- 3x Uncommon Potions of Healing.
- 25x EXP.
