Once your gear is accounted for and you’re all prepped and ready to go, it all comes down to how well you push your buttons! The most important thing to remember is ABC: Always Be Casting. As far as what you should be casting, I’ll cover that below with the optimal balance Druid rotations for both single-target and AoE encounters.

Single-Target Rotation

As a Moonkin, you’ll focus on putting your DoTs on your enemy, using your cooldowns as much as possible, and otherwise casting Wrath and Starfire according to your current Eclipse buff.

  1. Cast Insect Swarm to apply/maintain the debuff.
  2. Cast Moonfire or Sunfire to apply/maintain the debuff or if you need to move.
  3. Cast Force of Nature on cooldown.
  4. Cast Starfall on cooldown, ideally while you have the Eclipse (Lunar) buff.
  5. Cast Starsurge on cooldown.
  6. Cast Starfire while you have the Eclipse (Lunar) buff.
  7. Cast Wrath otherwise.

AoE Rotation

2-3 Targets

When you have a few different targets to deal with, you’ll apply your DoTs to all of them and continue your single-target rotation on your priority target.

  1. Cast Wild Mushroom 3 times to place three mushrooms near your targets.
  2. Cast Insect Swarm to apply/maintain the debuff on each target.
  3. Cast Moonfire or Sunfire to apply/maintain the debuff on each target or if you need to move.
  4. Cast Force of Nature on cooldown.
  5. Cast Starfall on cooldown, ideally while you have the Eclipse (Lunar) buff.
  6. Cast Wild Mushroom: Detonate while you have 3 mushrooms and ideally with the Eclipse (Solar) buff active.
  7. Cast Starsurge on cooldown.
  8. Cast Starfire while you have the Eclipse (Lunar) buff.
  9. Cast Wrath otherwise.

4 or More Targets

With more than a few targets, you’ll still be spreading DoTs but the rest of your rotation will be focused on AoE damage.

  1. Cast Wild Mushroom 3 times to place three mushrooms near your targets.
  2. Cast Wild Mushroom: Detonate while you have 3 mushrooms.
  3. Cast Starfall on cooldown.
  4. Cast Insect Swarm to apply/maintain the debuff on each target.
  5. Cast Moonfire or Sunfire to apply/maintain the debuff on each target or if you need to move.
  6. Cast Typhoon if you have the talent and if the knockback won’t disrupt anything (or if you have Glyph of Typhoon).
  7. Cast Hurricane otherwise.
