Long ago, deep in the thick forests of Japan, a cry broke out, a small infant, that was left wrapped in a rough blanket on a patch of grass, abandoned by his mother. A carpenter travelling through to sell his wares heard the infant's sounds of pain, and went to them, and discovered the child laying there. He picked up the child, realising it was a omen of fortune, for his wife was barren, he coddled the baby, put it on some hay he had on his cart and proceeded back to his village to show his wife, and both were overjoyed, neither of them knew that the child was a yokai, a kitsune, and when he was older, the child realised what he was based on the folklore he had heard, and told his parents, which they took the news very well, telling him how he was found in the forest. Later, to his parent's dismay, a war had broken out between two of the important factions, which meant one male was taken from every family, the child volunteered to take his aging fathers place, saying his goodbyes.
As he trained to become a warrior, his instructors realised his power and intelligence, and took him from the others, and specially trained him as a ninja, as he had finished the training, he was used as an assassin against the enemy faction, where, on his first assignment, surrounded by several people, was mortally wounded. He lost conciousness, his body however, in a haze of adrenaline, turned into a large nine tailed fox, slaughtering the opponents, and waking up later to find himself surrounded in bodies. Scared, he returned to his home, not mentioning anything to anyone, where his mother welcomed him, and brought him to his father, on his deathbed, who pulled out an item, a mask, of the kitsune, which he had started working on as soon as his son left, a few years earlier before he bacame ill, and had it blessed by the village holy person, to allow the control of internal power. He gave it to his son, who put on the mask, immediatly feeling a coursing feeling of power, and used it to heal his father. The son, never spoke of the bodies he saw, only using his powers and intelligence, for the good of his village, living with the guilt until death.
