The city of Heiligen stands as the largest holy city in the Vaporian continent, with the largest cathedral in the world. The Eldern Church, a major religion with a massive following, was established long ago with the emergence of a legendary order of heroes called the Elders who were given holy powers from the Valkyries. Although many centuries have passed since the passing of the last Elder, those who follow the Church believes that the Valkyries will return from the void and once again pass down the light onto new heroes, who will then bring salvation to the lands of Steamworld.
Heiligen, technically part of the Regina kingdom, considers itself an independent, neutral city-state. As one of the major coastal trading hubs, Heiligen is a popular spot for intercontinental merchants and adventurers, and also serves as a neutral meeting ground for many faction leaders.
Many adventurers, however, had reported that they have heard some strange sounds coming from the sewers under the city, but the Lords of the Church have denied any accusations of strange activity in the city.
