Your thoughts on sniffers?
I personally like sniffers a lot (or maybe too much), so what about you, do you like sniffers?
Give me your thoughts, it (probably) won't hurt my feelings at all.

The last option has a camera man 18 feeling
The Sniffer's concept and idea is so cool like it's an extinct dinosaur that you bring back to life and it's ability to sniff out stuff could have been used to great effect in Trails and Tales since it's the archaeology update but Mojang just dropped the ball so hard with them. Like you go and find a Sniffer Egg in an uncommon structure deep underwater in specifically the warm ocean biome with a chance of it just not being there at all then you have to wait a bit for it to hatch and grow up just so that it can occasionally sniff out 2 unique plants. Like you'd think you'd at least get maybe a sherd or more unique plants for all the trouble you went through to hatch the guy. There's just so much missed potential with the Sniffer that it hurts.
y'know what? i like the creature but hate the name, like, i'd be pissed if i was some historic craeture and they named me 'sniffer' i get that it sniffs but imagine calling a dinousor chomper or something
meanwhile I’m out here still playing in 1.12.2 because thats the version my most played server is in lmao
I am still on 1.12.2 even on singleplayer
1.12.2 is so popular fr
They give you seeds for two types of flowers, which I guess is good for aesthetic/decoration; Or if you want a bunch of cyan or orange dye. Other than that, they're kinda cool I guess.
I must make it clear, though: I do not hate the sniffer; I'm not a hater.
Best mob ever *sniffs*
*Clears throat*
SNIFFERS ARE AMAZING!
SNIFFERS ARE AMAZING!
they're cute but were too overhyped before they were added
Sniffers are awesome. I love how they can find even the most hidden network issues.
i like there color palet

Yessir
I think they are OK.
theyre goofy gentle giants that make funny noises
but id like them more if they had actual uses, but its fine as is

Goofy is why I like them XD
Worst Feature of 1.20
Though that one aCookieGod sniffer vid was kinda funny
i think they were a little overhyped. all they do is give you 2 flowers and that's it
completely useless
why?
big fella, my beloved <3
kinda wish they dug up more plants, and maybe had another use or quirky mechanic to make them feel more alive and sought after (considering you need to find a warm ocean, then get lucky while being bombarded by drowned just to get one egg...) but i still love them :3

I am grievened by the fact the that Sniffer can't be tickled by a brush to make it sneeze a slime block, if pandas can sneeze why can't the literal SNIFFER sneeze too? Also it needs to dig up more than 2 plants, because 2 plants isn't enough in my opinion, also why do Sniffers have such low health for a Large mob? I expected it to atleast have 20 or 30 hearts.
Think they are ok, nothing special really though. Basically just something for block collectors (for both the critters and the seed). Think they needed to have something else for them like being ridable or maybe an amphibious method of transport (Slower than a boat but could go from land to water seamlessly and then back again).
I hate them so much, it annoys me so much, just the fact that they exist is irritating to me. They have nothing to do with Minecraft, why the hell were they even added
because they are cute and goofy
Besides being an "big" mob which MC quite lacks, and desperately needs. The overall utility of the mob is barebones. A couple key features that could be added would be a companion herd animal.
They are basically an "limited version of an Ox" for MC. In short the sniffer could be used for farming, companion/storage pack animal ( with a possible addition of backpacks for Sniffers), break up grass blocks making it either rooted, or coarse dirt.
(Destroy 1 block while the block under it will become rooted OR coarse dirt)
(Granted Ox don't normally dig in the ground, however with the current skill for sniffer and the size, it could be viewed as an ox)
- With the current way of obtaining it, having them fulfill more roles due to its size can make players more eager to look/raise one. Especially for SMP
They are def cool mobs, but could have been used more efficiently.

Thinking of uses for them;
sniffers providing a meaningful defense against ravagers (possibly similar to how cats protect against creepers) might offer a general reason to keep and breed them

So, you are saying they are cool, they just need more uses?
Yup, the color's really blend well, and easy to distinguish its silhouette! It just leave's a lot on the table; making the only incentive to get one as a mob décor .
When possible would try to acquire it, but only when I'm settled in fully. If the uses were availb from the previous statement, I and quite a number of other SMP players would try to get it as soon as possible to aid with the various tasks we have to do.

The whole sniffer / torhflower / pitcherplant constellation strikes me as being next to useless.
There's some 5-minute_fun and a ceratin amount of decorative value, but the only [very minor] use in actual play seems to be a one-step source of cyan dye [which is more troublesom to use than the pre-existing multistep routes].
Probably the worst downside to the group is the development resources that could have been directed to bug-fixes and performance enhancements [not to dare to dream of actually interesting additions]…
On the other hand, the greatest upside is that these additions sopped up a lot of the resources MS/Mj would otherwise have applied to greifing farms and otherwise preventing BadWrongFun™

Um, okay?
You did ask….
Sniffers are so good 😊😊😊
Other than their being somewhat dopely cute, is there a reason behind this opinion? (I don't see a use for them other than getting two new plants neither of which seems to go anywhere.)
no
Can't fault someone for liking the aesthetically pleasing, but I do wish MS/Mj would have married some function to it in order to appeal to the technical/functionalist fraction of the player base…
