Skyblock Upgrade 2

Skyblock Upgrade 2 is a direct sequel to my debut datapack, Skyblock Upgrade. It recreates some popular Skyblock modpack features, and adds some original features, with a short and satisfying progression, designed to make the game just a little bit more fun. This datapack is meant for skyblock players, but it can also be used with normal Minecraft, and the player can benefit from its features just the same!

If you'd like to make sure you explore all the features of this datapack when playing, you can view your progress in finding all the machines on the advancement tab in game, as the datapack adds in a new advancement tab, which contains advancements for most of the pack's features. More advancements may appear as the early ones are completed.

NOTE: There is a required resource pack for this datapack.

Features:

Guide Books - The starting guide book can be crafted by placing a book in a crafting table. It acts as an in-game guide for starting out in this datapack. There are 3 other guide books, associated with the kiln, slam crafter, and transmuter blocks. I'm super proud of these! They turned out amazing and I hope you enjoy reading them. All crafting recipes for items and blocks can be found in these guide books.

Hammer - The hammer is a new tool, which will drop gravel from cobblestone when mining it. The hammer can be used as a pickaxe as well, and can be placed into the smasher block for automating cobble smashing. It can also be upgraded into the reinforced hammer later with new materials, which will increase the mining speed and durability.

Glove - The glove is a weapon / tool that can be crafted early game. It increases the range of the player for attacking by 3 blocks when used as a weapon, and increases block interaction range by 3 when used as a weapon or in the offhand, for block placing. The glove can also be used in the basher machine, which will automatically break blocks. It can also be upgraded into the reinforced glove later with new materials, which will increase the damage and durability.

Loot Bags - Loot bags are dropped from most common hostile mobs at a low drop rate. When opened, they give the user random items from a loot pool. It covers most of the Skyblock unobtainable items that the machines in the datapack do not provide. This could include anything from andesite to sniffer eggs, if you're lucky. Loot bags come in four rarities, each containing a different loot pool. They can be compressed together in a slam crafter to craft a loot bag of higher rarity.

Composter - The composter takes leaf blocks, and turns them into sticks with a chance for a dirt clump. The dirt clumps, when crafted together in a 2x2 crafting table make a block of dirt. This acts as a source of renewable dirt for Skyblock players. Up to 9 composters placed in a grid can be used at a time.

Sifter
- The sifter, when right clicked with gravel or sands produces flint, iron and gold nuggets, and raw copper and zinc. Zinc is a new ore found only through sifting which is used in machine crafting. Up to 9 sifters placed in a grid can be used at a time.

Crucible
- The crucible is a block that converts cobblestone into lava. As more cobblestone is placed in by right clicking the middle of the crucible with cobble in hand, the lava level will rise. 64 cobblestone is required to fill up the crucible, and when full, the lava can be harvested with a bucket.

Kiln
- The kiln is used to create alloys and ingots including zinc ingots, steel ingots, brass ingots, and sapphires. It is also necessary to create the slam crafter for redstone machine crafting. To power the kiln, place a heat block beneath the kiln (fire, campfire, lava, soul fire, soul campfire). The items it produces are pushed out of the top of the kiln as a dropped item. Items that are not part of a recipe produce ash, which can be compressed into bone meal at the slam crafter. To craft a guide book for the kiln, place one leather and one paper in the kiln to fire together.

Slam Crafter
- The slam crafter is the gateway to automation, as it is used to craft redstone machines. Up to 4 items can be placed in the slam crafter at once, and right clicking the slam crafter with a hammer to SLAM the items together! The ingots made by the kiln can be compressed into plates in the slam crafter, which are the main ingredients in machines. They can also be used to upgrade the hammer and glove to their respective reinforced counterparts (to place the hammer in the slam crafter, hold it in the off hand and right click the slam crafter). To craft a guide book for the slam crafter, place 3 paper and one leather in the machine and slam.

Trash - (This is my favorite block) The trash block is a filter block. It replaces your giant redstone filter which gets rid of the poppies from the iron farm. It has two modes, which can be toggled with a button in the GUI. Every 10 seconds the trash will delete all items that either match or do not match the item types in the 4 filter spaces (depending on the block mode) and dump the rest of the items below the block. This can be used for various things, such as deleting dropped armor items from a mob farm, or making a farm that only places loot bags in a storage and trashes all other drops.

Generator - The generator is a redstone machine which acts as a replacement to the cobblestone generator. It can be placed either facing up or down, and when powered will produce blocks every 2 seconds. In the overworld, it will produce cobblestone, and rarely coal, iron, and lapis ore blocks. In the nether, it will produce netherrack, blackstone, nether gold, redstone ore, and quartz ore. In the end, it will produce endstone, and very rarely diamond and emerald ores.

Smasher - The smasher, when powered, and provided with a hammer, by right clicking the top slot with a hammer in hand, will attempt to break exclusively cobblestone blocks every 1 second. The cobblestone broken by the smasher will drop gravel items, and durability is taken from the hammer placed in the smasher when a block is broken, until the hammer breaks. Hammers can be swapped or removed before they break.

Basher - The basher, when powered, and provided with a glove, by right clicking the open slot with a glove in hand, will attempt to break any block in front of it every 1 second. Most blocks broken using the basher will drop like they are mined with a diamond pickaxe, which allows for some awesome automation when paired with the generator block. Durability is taken from the gloves used by the basher every time a block is broken with the item. Gloves can be swapped or removed before they break.

Transmuter - The transmuter, provided with sapphires, can change one item into another item. This feature unlocks many items that normally take exploration to acquire. For example, saplings can be converted into other sapling types, coral blocks from the wandering trader can be converted into coral plants and fans, copper can be aged faster, etc. Placing an enchanted item in the transmuter will remove the enchantments on the item, and return the unenchanted item and an enchanted book containing all the enchantments that were on the item, at the cost of a sapphire. This method also removes curses.

Known Bugs:
Most of these bugs will not be fixed in the interest of performance.
- Placing a hopper underneath items with GUIs will take the gui items out. These items are deleted when dropped or picke up by the player, but cause strange visuals in containers occasionally.
- Blocks do not destroy instantly when mined in creative mode. (They are synced to a 1 second timer when not mined in survival mode.) This is because when a player mines a block in creative mode, the scores for breaking those blocks are not increased. Adding a check every tick at every block if their specific block type is there would be a performance problem, but there may be another way to fix this using advancements or predicates. Please let me know if you have a solution to this.

This is really a great pack. Not only do the mechanics work great, they are also presented with beautiful visuals. The double page book is really clever, and I love the animations of the Basher and Smasher!

I did find some bugs:
- When you detect right-clicking on an interaction entity, all interaction entities get targeted, instead of just interaction entities from SBU. This makes it difficult to combine with other packs that use interaction entities, since the load order determines if the other packs work or not.
- When you use items on the sifter, and you have a smash crafter placed next to it, it will use the item on both of them.

Thank you for your great work :)

I have the required resource pack installed, but the glove texture does not show up. I don't know what else this affects, but the guide's texture still works, and the functionality of the glove is still there... The glove and guide are the only two things I've crafted so far, will update if more visual bugs are found.

Update:
I'm stupid. It was a conflict with another datapack/resource pack combo...
- Jake's Build Tools is not compatible with this datapack.

Does the datapack include skyblock worldgen? When I start a new world with the pack, it just places me into a normal overworld

No... Looking at the datapack files, I think the packs only purpose is to give the tools to run a successful skyblock, rather that give the actual skyblock experience. If your looking for the actual skyblock aspect, I'd look to Bhex's Chopping Block.

I ended up installing DrTrog’s Skyblock Infinite alongside this pack, which adds the skyblock generation with a neat twist of some extra islands and the Vanilla structures still generating. I did find that it has a broken minecraft:tick function tag, so if anyone else wants to combine these two, delete that tag from the Skyblock Infinite pack.
