Uh oh! A mysterious force has terrorized your Minecraft world and now the iconic soundtrack you would hear in the background is now gone! The only traces of them are through music discs scattered around the world. The question remains: will you be able to reclaim Minecraft's music as your own?

Okay, lore-stuff aside, this is just an excuse to have every music in the game be in the form of a music disc. In order to allow the jukebox to play these music discs without other music interrupting it tho, I have to disable the background music. But no fret! With this pack, you can control how you want this music to be played. In fact, you can even play the creative and menu music in Survival mode too! You could even ignore all the new music and only play the music that C418 made. Up to you.

Where can you find these music discs? They're scattered in chests, around villages, temples, dungeons, and mineshafts. Slay Zombies, Husks, Drowned, and even Guardians to obtain a music disc. Even go out on a fishing trip for music discs. There are a multitude of ways to get these discs, and if you need a song to start your world in, enabling bonus chest will provide one "calm" music disc ("Minecraft", "Clark", or "Sweden") along with a complementary jukebox.

That said, some music discs are exclusive to their locale:
  • "Axolotl", "Dragon Fish", and "Shuniji" can be found in ocean ruin, shipwreck, and buried treasure chests and can be rarely dropped from Guardians and Drowned.
  • "Ancestry" and "Deeper" are only found in ancient city chests.
  • The Trails & Tales soundtrack are generally found in suspicious sand or gravel, and all can be dug up through Sniffers.
  • The Tricky Trials soundtrack (except for "Deeper") are all located in trial chambers, either through vaults, corridor barrels, or decorated pots.
  • Nether tracks are (unsurprisely) found in the Nether, all can be bartered by Piglins or rarely as drops from Zombified Piglins.
  •   In case bartering or killing Piglins is tedious, there are other ways of obtaining these discs:
  •     "Concrete Halls", "Dead Voxel", "Warmth", and "Ballad of the Cats" can be found in nether fortress chests.
  •     "Rubedo", "So Below" and "Chrysopoeia" can be found in bastion remnants.
  • "boss.ogg" and "The End" can be found in end city chests.
Some music discs can only be obtained through advancements, these require a free inventory slot to be delivered.
  • "Alpha" is given immediately after you exit The End for the first time and seen the credits.
  • "Aria Math", "Biome Fest", "Blind Spots", "Dreiton", "Haunt Muskie", and "Taswell" are rewarded upon collecting all 19 of the normal music discs in the game. They are packaged in a complementary shulker box.
  • "Mutation", "Moog City 2", "Beginning 2", and "Floating Trees" are rewarded upon collecting every single music disc (normal and the ones added in this data pack) in the game. They are packaged in a complementary shulker box.
This data pack also changed how some of the standard music discs (aka the ones that are supposed to be in the game) are obtained. The C418 music discs that were once locked behind a Creeper killed be a Skeleton can now be found in various chests, including mineshafts, buried treasure chests, and even through vaults in trial chambers. In some cases, "otherside" can also be found in tangent with the C418 music discs.

Oh don't worry, Creepers can still drop music discs when killed by a skeleton, but the newer discs "otherside", "Relic", "Creator", "Creator (Music Box)", and "Precipice" can be rarely dropped now in addition to the standard C418 music disc drops.

Note that while the background music discs added here are in stereo and can be heard anywhere you go, the standard music discs are not, meaning they are subjected to be only heard within a specific range. The resource pack does not contain audio files that convert the 19 music discs into stereo out of respect for C418's music guidelines: c418.org/2017/01/26/what-am-i-allowed-to-do-with-daniels-music/. You will have to fix this yourself.

Please note that this data pack will only work in Minecraft 1.21 and above.

Before you ask btw, yes, "Alpha" still plays in the end credit sequence. This is intentional.

And now here are the list of commands per each music disc

2 Update Logs

Major update (June 18, 2024) : by PanchamBro 06/18/2024 9:15:14 pmJun 18th

  • A unified loot table featuring most of the new music discs is now used in lieu of a regional based loot table per every structure, with the sole exception of villages. Exclusive music discs tied to certain structures, such as trial chambers or ancient cities, are not affected.
  • Due to the above, a rebalancing of music discs has been done. Music discs are a bit rarer to come by now from chest loot.
  • Added 8 new advancements; these are used to signify how much of a soundtrack's OST you have (e.g. how many Volume Alpha music discs have you collected so far). "11", "boss", and the main menu music are excluded from the count, the former two due to the lack of an OST release for these tracks, the latter due to how they are obtained following the collection of all music discs.
  • The titles of each music discs are now located under en_us.json. This enables the translation of music disc names if necessary. The same goes for advancement titles and descriptions

Thank you so much, I tried to add the Halloween theme song as a music disc, but I couldn't figure it out.
