There are a lot of blocks that are redundant such as the multiple smelting variants. In this datapack I've disabled duplicate recipes like being able to smelt iron in two different blocks for example and keep their recipes to the relevant block, making all blocks have their own use.

Notes:
- The "Blast Furnace" recipe has been changed so you can now acquire it early game
- THIS DATAPACK HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED

Features:
- All metal smelting is restricted to the "Blast Furnace"
- All food smelting is restricted to the "Smoker" and "Campfire"
- All stone crafting is restricted to the "Stonecutter"
CompatibilityMinecraft 1.15
toMinecraft 1.20

I've had an idea for a while similar to this that you may be interested in, I agree that the smoker and blast furnace need more relevance. The smoker has a intermediate with the campfire for early game unlike the blast furnace so I see why you changed the recipe. My idea was to make the normal furnace only yield iron nuggets and blast furnaces yield iron ingots as you have done. In this proposal the recipe would be slightly cheaper replacing the top middle ingot with a clay block (real furnaces and blast furnaces traditionally use a clay sand mix for insulation as well as steel/iron), andchain mail could be crafted with iron nuggets.
This would increase the early game progression where to get to iron armor you would have to balance getting chainmail to be safer mining with saving up for a blast furnace unlocking ingots. It would balance iron ore dropping multiple raw ore and being affected by fortune. Finally it would chainmail a place in the progression and a proper recipe.

Anyway what do you think?

I actually think this is a great idea and I love that it's considered with progression in mind. Unforunately I have this pack listed to be discontinued next update and it's been listed to be discontinued for awhile now. If you want to make that though I'd be happy to help you. Recipe datapacks are actually probably one of the easier ones to make so it shouldn't be hard. I'd love to see your idea actually made though so please keep me updated

Thanks for the your reply and that you like the idea so much. I'm sorry to hear that the pack will be discontinued through.
As for making the data pack I would be very grateful for your assistance in putting it together. Do you have any thoughts on points of improvement? I was thinking for copper and gold as they have a much lower melting and smelting point that would work with a regular furnace and there raw blocks could be done in a blast furnace. Because iron armor is better and the most important crafting material the blast furnace would still be vital to progression, netherite scraps would also need a blast furnace.

You can also simulate a low melting point with faster smelting times.

Well yes, the copper and gold not needing a blast furnace because they require lower temperatures

I meant that was another way to simulate it. You can decrease or increase smelting time (ancient debris does it).

Could do both too
