Hello again Planet Minecraft,
I am back with my first custom mob. Meet the Fireberry. This hostile plant will shoot fireballs at you from a distance of 48 blocks. They are immobile, but have as much health as a player and pack quite a punch. To get a fireberry in your world, install the datapack then type "/function fireberry:give_berry" to give yourself a spawn egg. Plant the berry on grass and voila. You will hear the sound of a blaze once you first place it, but it will resume it's normal behaviour shortly thereafter. They drop sweet berries, blaze powder, and occasionally fire resistance potions when killed. Breaking the grass block below them also kills them, but doesn't drop their loot.
"Will these mobs spawn naturally?" you ask. Yes, but not in this pack. If you have been paying attention to the 1.16.2 snapshots for Java Edition, you will know the capabilities for making custom dimensions with custom biomes is being added. Currently, it is experimental, and I haven't yet grasped how it will work, but I am planning to create a custom Jungle Dimension. For this dimension, I wanted to create custom mobs, hence the Fireberry. If all of this proves too challenging, I will release the Fireberry and Future Mobs with Custom Spawns in existing biomes. If you have any ideas for a jungle themed mob, let me know through the comments or DMs. Consider all this a sneak preview of what's to come. I may be releasing more custom mobs in the future, followed by the release of the Jungle Dimension.
Thanks for stopping by!!
