Today I want to talk about what it means to be a part of a staff. Too many people have preconceived ideas about these positions, everyone wants to hold these ranks but no ones really knows what these means. What is seen by most players is the advantages, meaning the higher rank, the ability to have control over things, the respect (and subordination, sometimes) of the lower ranks, but with all these comes responsibility of the mechanics of the server, the taking care of the (constant) problems of the players, etc. In this blog, I will cover what I think is necessary in a server staff member.
Moderators
These people are the equivalent of the teacher in primary school. They handle, the questions from the players, the disputes between the players. They also have the important job of enforcing the rules. No matter how redundant all these tasks seem, they have to be taken care of at all time. They should be able to deal with most of the situations that could come up on the server.
Administrators
They take care of the more technical parts of the server, imagine them being your school principal, they have to coordinate the moderators, take care of any crash in the server system as well as keep the game running smoothly for everyone. They can potentially fill the role of the moderators and mentor them if needed. This position is a lot of responsibility for the server rests on their shoulders.
Owners
Means the server belongs to them (they pay for it) and have access the complete server files. They ultimately have the right to take and revoke any decisions. They set the rules of the games in aggreement with the rest of the staff. They absolutely must be in good terms with the rest of the team. In the end, their decisions break or make the game.
In my (humble and modest) opinion, this represents the meaning of these ranks. I have seen a lot of server where moderators are just players but with more commands, or even some that make people pay to get staff ranks; what is written above is what I would like to say to them.
Thanks for taking your time to read this blog, I hope you liked it and if you did feel free to leave a diamond. If any of you don't agree with some aspects (or everything) what I wrote, feel free to tell me in the comment section down below. Until next time, happy browsing !
