Hello, and welcome to my interview with Hardcrafter! He joined PMC back in 2011, and is still posting today despite having taken a many-year hiatus! He's very interested in music production and gaming, and is known for his regular wallposts relating to all sorts of topics. :) I hope you enjoy our interview!
My questions are in dark blue; his answers are in turquoise.
1. What inspired you to start making Minecraft skins?
1. Honestly, I kinda forget lol. I made this account and made my first skin when I was 14 years old, for reference I'm turning 24 this summer. PMC introduced me to the very concept of having a custom skin, and I liked that concept so I joined up and decided to make my own skin!
2. Do you have a persona? If so, what inspired you to create them?
2. My current persona is Hyouka, though previously I had Hibiki. Hibiki was the first original character I made after seeing the many great characters by Marma, Hibiki represents my love of music, and has a few traits similar to my own. Hyouka I created later as a challenge to use all shades of blue, as it's my favourite colour and is loosely inspired by the Pokémon Glaceon. I didn't give him much backstory or personality until just recently, and of course, many of the traits I gave him come from my own nature.
3. What is your favourite submission (that you have made)? Your favourite that someone else has made?
3. I don't really have a favourite out of my own submissions, and I can't say I have favourite submission from someone else either. I can definitely say I greatly enjoy Marma's, Michiru's, and so many other peoples' skins and art. Honestly, there's so much good stuff in this community that it's nigh impossible to pick favourites.
4. What is the origin of your username?
4. My username is simply a combination of "hard" and "crafter"; "hard" coming from hard dance music; which is my favourite genre, and "crafter"; since it kinda fits into a Minecraft setting lol.
5. What hobbies do you enjoy IRL?
5. Is being on the internet considered a hobby? If so, that'd be my main one. I also watch way too much anime for my own good. I do wanna get more into electronic music production, you may have noticed the two songs I've made and shared here on PMC even. However, I'm greatly procrastinating on that end.
6. Do you have an inspiration (either for making skins or in real life)? If so, what do you like about them?
6. Skin-wise I can't say I have any specific inspirations, if anything there are just a lot of talented people to get inspiration from. Real life-wise, I also don't have much of a role model or inspiration... Sorry for such a boring response here...
7. If you could do one thing to benefit the world, what would it be? If you could remove one negative thing from the world, what would it be?
7. One thing to benefit the world: Create equal opportunity for all. One negative thing to remove from the world: Discrimination of all forms, like seriously, there's no purpose in treating people differently based on any trait.
8. What advice would you give to a new PMC member?
8. Just do what you enjoy doing and don't take yourself or this site too seriously. Don't get caught up on the amount of subscribers, likes, diamonds and favourites you get. So long as you're having fun, that's the main thing. Don't be afraid to step away from this site either if you feel you need to. There was a period of time where I was disinterested in Minecraft and wound up not coming to this site for about 7 years even.
9. Do you have a current goal for your content? If so, what is it?
9. Not really, I just make things when I'm in the mood. Though I guess it would be nice to get up to the triple digits for total number of submissions, and have one skin reach triple digits in diamonds.
10. How would you describe yourself in three words?
10. Loner, Passionate, and Lost.
