For starters, this is my application for the PEN AND INK SOCIETY, its a dope group, so if you're a good blogger, go and join man!

but now for the brass tacks (wait... tax, sorry)

Horses - Good or Bad?

Horses wereimplemented in the 1.6.1 version of Minecraft (you all know what minecraft is, i do not need to explain) for the community desperately wanted them, so Jeb relented, he worked with the creator of the Mo' Creatures mod, DrZhark. It took up an entire update, which was (aptly) called: "The Horse Update", it sounds swaggy, but after it came, i was disappointed.

Some horse textures were bright in my eyes, for I liked the design of the original Mo'Creatures better, but of course they're there for the long run now, the other thing i dislike is the texture of the armor, it looks like the Sphax PureBDCraft (not that thats a bad thing, but i'm not a huge fan of that pack) but i guess that is just me, and i know, you guys are thinking "it is called a "resource pack"... get one" and i realize that, but now i'm getting at the actual hard things to change...

First of all, the way it fits in, because in the Mo'Creatures mod, it has seamless fitting in with hundreds of new mobs, with some dropping things that you need for horses, blahblahblah. While in regular Minecraft, it doesn't fit in quite as well, for they re-used the pig saddle for horses (which i'm irked at) they use chests for donkeys, they don't have a intricate breeding system, no flying horses, etcetcblahblah

They're handing is also a little hard to control, and i way rather pigs, after they added the Carrot on a Stick to control pigs a couple of updates ago, i was ecstatic, i love riding pigs, they're funky fresh, but of course, they now take a back seat to horses not in the community

But those are the negatives, so now are the positives:

You no longer need a mod to ride a fast mob, no longer need to get carrots and fishing poles to control pigs, they're way easy to breed, kinda easy to tame, etc

They're rather easy to find (as long as you get a new world after 1.6.1), They are simple to tame after you've found them (just get a lead and saddle from a dungeon mkay?) And of course, they're fun to ride :D and torture >:D (loljk) but anywhoozle, back on point, horses make travelling Minecraft's terrain in a hurry, they also give a whole new dimension of play and travel to plains/anywhere else you find them. They're fun, challenging, and >>>FAST>>>

So to sum it all up, here is a pros and cons sheet for your pleasure:
Spoiler

Pros:

No longer need a mod for horses
Fun and challenging to tame and ride
No longer need pig saddles and carrot on a stick's to ride pigs
Easy to find
Fast and fun to ride long distances/explore
Easy to breed

Cons:

Slightly badly put into the game compared to Mo'Creatures
Some of the textures glare and are rather bright
Not an intricate breeding system
The fact that you need pig saddles and (optional) leads to tame/control them
No other kinds of horses in vanilla, just regular horses

I shall let you choose which side you like better, i'm not forcing an opinion on you, just stating the facts :)

For those who wonder, the resource pack i'm using is Default Redefined by _Medieval-Craft_, totally go check him out, he's awesome

And that is it, go ahead and diamond it if you'd like, if not, SHAME ON YOU (loljkagain) but if you'd like to see more of my stuffs, go ahead and subscribe!

"they don't have zombie/skeleton horses"
there are zombie horses and skeleton horses. But they can't spawn (like the giant)

as i meant (not my words though) you cannot spawn them, so (in theory) if they're not in vanilla, then i do not count them to be in the game. if you need a mod to spawn them, then they don't have them

you can spawn them:
/summon EntityHorse ~0 ~0 ~0 {Type:3, SaddleItem:{id:329}, Tame:1} for Zombie and

/summon EntityHorse ~0 ~0 ~0 {Type:4, SaddleItem:{id:329}, Tame:1}
for Skeleton

It's called resource pack because it includes sounds, etc. If it was called a texture pack it would make no sense.
