Lives of people have changed considerably after the happening. For many, they haven't seen sun lights since the day they moved down into the subway tunnels. Most are craving to see the sun light once again, but they knew that going outside the tunnel would cost them of their lives. Of course, there were few brave but stubborn groups before. They proudly marched outside the tunnel, claiming that they will soon be back with large amounts of supplies for us. None of them, however, did make their way back home. Well, at least not in one piece.
The man's name was Charlie. He had a great smile and a very loud laughter. He especially loved playing with little kids and telling them stories of fairies and dragons. For many kids in the tunnel, Charlie was their light house in their hard situations. Through him, little children have found peace and joy despite their lives inside dark, damp, and dusty surroundings. When Charlie joined the scavenger team, he assured to children that he would bring lots and lots of candies for them ... after 10 days from his departure, however, townsmen (more like tunnelsmen) were able to find what it seemed like part of his body near the Zone 32 subway entrance barricades.
The jacket that the body had on was what Charlie was wearing before his departure. In its front pocket, there was a small bag of candies; red, yellow, and green. The adults agreed to keep the secret of the Charlie's death to prevent the children from losing their hopes. Candies were distributed to the children and when the question about Charlie's presence arose, they were told that he went onto another scavenge. The children were also told that next time, Charlie would bring toys for them. No one wanted to see sadness in their faces because they knew what those children would have to face when they grow up bit more ... they knew ... they knew ...
