I have recently seen sooo many server recruitments saying either, "New RP server Recruiting" or "RPG server Recruiting now!" As a lover of RPGs and not really into RuneScape GUI type games so I thought I might as well apply for some of these servers. Most of the time I get accepted and so I ask if it's actually an RP or RPG server because the forum has some interesting needs and custom plugins plus whitelist on a few but it says RP. Now everytime I ask the server owner, the person always says, "Yea, it's a server that uses /me a lot..." and some other stuff. Now I get kind of mad a bit because I look for RPG servers not RP, therefore the creation of this blog. :)
RP = Roleplaying
You owners should know the difference but anyways, roleplaying. This is the type that is kind of like you doing your own play/act. You basically utilize "/me" to the fullest; i.e "/me throws a rock at the griffin" :P Roleplaying is like doing stuff that you can't actually do but if you have the plugin then it gives it more feel. There are many types of roleplaying but some can be find here. That should give you more of the feel of what type of RP server you want to make. Another thing to think is about, is letting the players know that it is a "/me" type of RP because most people think you're making like a Skyrim type server that doesn't utilize "/me". Hopefully that gives you a more depth of RP. "RP is like you putting yourself as the character in their shoes, metaphorically." - Some dude on Yahoo answers xD
RPG = Roleplaying Game
You may think this is the samething as RP just with "game" in it, but it isn't. RPG is more of a type that doesn't use "/me" this can be compared to servers like (not trying to advertise here but...) World of Mitica and Gazamo's A'therys Ascended (even if it says RP on it. :P). RPG is also more light on the restrictions unlike RP where you have to do a separate channel to let players know you are "Out of Character". RPG is easily much more free as there is little to no rules on the chat kind of stuff except for server rules. "RPG is literally making your character grow with putting on actual armor in the game, none of the Heaven armor that isn't even real." - Same dude on Yahoo answers xD
Conclusion
Between both RP and RPG the huge difference is the strictness between the both and characterizations. That makes the literal use of the items and the fictional items more "expanded" in the game.
KTHXBYE
