SPRINT (HYBRID)

October 7 - October 9, 2024

2024 Climate Services Code Sprint

ECMWF Bonn/Germany

In response to the European Digital Transformation Act, the existing European digital infrastructures are being enhanced and optimised to be harnessed for sustainable development. In particular, climate action can be underpinned by applications that provide scientific processing methods for enabling information generation from raw data to useful information. This is a hybrid event. The in-person portion will take place at The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in Bonn, Germany. Online participation will take place over Slack. Participation is free for everyone. OGC Members and non-Members alike are encouraged to attend. .stk-f1fe9fa .stk-button{border-top-left-radius:25px !important;border-top-right-radius:25px !important;border-bottom-right-radius:25px !important;border-bottom-left-radius:25px !important}Register here Enhancing Climate Resilience Application packagesThe EU H2020 CLINT Project, of which OGC was a partner, developed Climate Resilience Application Packages, as well as related applications around the birdhouse collection of OGC WPS focussing on Climate data processing services. Enhancement will be e.g. transition from OGC WPS to OGC API - Processes or options to include Common Workflow Language (CWL). Interoperability to Zoo-Project, the GEO-LDN toolbox and their applications on desertification and land slides risk projection could be explored.  Deployment into digital infrastructuresThe coding sprint will also focus on interoperability of the climate resilience application packages into the EU digital infrastructures like Climate Data Store of Copernicus Climate Change (C3S), Copernicus Land Monitoring (CLMS), Copernicus Emergency Management (CEMS) or WekEO, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), or individual Climate Service Information Systems. Interoperability to the UNCCD reporting portal PRAIS4 can be explored. Enhancing Documentation and training materialStreamlining and fine tuning the existing material for easier access to open knowledge around the usage of the Climate Resilience Application Packages is going to be the third focus area to be enhanced and decided within the coding sprint. Beside online documentation, a good set of Jupyter Notebooks and DEMO portals as persistent demonstrators should be in place, ready to explore. Innovation Days DC

American Red Cross Headquarters, Washington DC

Innovation Days DC is the premier annual Open Geospatial Consortium meeting in Washington, DC. The theme of the 2024 meeting is Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Futures. Through as series of presentations, panel discussions, and collaborative activities, participants will have the opportunity to: Gain insights into OGC Standards-driven geospatial technologies for performant, scalable SDIs Collaborate with a diverse community geospatial experts Network with leaders and technologists from government, industry, and academia Innovation Days DC will begin with an opening keynote by Josh Delmonico, Executive Director for the Federal Geographic Data Committee. This talk will set the stage for a panel discussion of the future of SDIs. Next, a series of lightning talks will cover critical uses of geospatial data, including climate impact, smart cities, and open science. The first day will conclude with a roundtable collaboration, giving participants the opportunity to identify challenges and opportunities associated with migrating spatial data to the cloud. The second day will begin with a keynote, followed by a panel exploring how AI can enhance the reliability and usability of spatial data through integrity, provenance, and trust. A dedicated roundtable on AI in Geo applications and outcomes offers practical insights into applying AI within SDIs. The third day is reserved for an invite-only meeting of the OGC Strategic Member Advisory Committee. Each Innovation Days DC session advances the OGC vision of building the future of location with community and technology for the good of society. Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) is a critical component for pushing this vision forward. .stk-4548720{align-items:center !important;display:flex !important}Save the Date Agenda Tuesday Dec 3rd 09:00 - 10:30Opening Ceremony & Keynote - Josh Delmonico10:30 - 11:00Break11:00 - 12:00Panel Discussion: A shared vision for SDI futures12:00 - 13:30Lunch13:30 - 14:30Expert Lightning Talks: Climate and Disasters, Marine, Open Science, Smart Cities14:30 - 15:00Break15:00 - 17:00Roundtable Collaboration: Cloud Migration - Opportunities and Challenges17:00 - 19:00Wrap up & Networking Event Wednesday Dec 4th 09:00 - 09:15Day 1 Recap9:15 - 10:30Keynote10:30 - 11:00Break11:00 - 12:00Panel Discussion: Artificial Intelligence, Integrity, Provenance, and Trust 12:00 - 13:30Lunch13:30 - 15:30Roundtable Collaboration: AI in Geo - Applications and Outcomes15:30 - 16:00Break16:00 - 17:00Innovation Days Outcomes and Future Directions Thursday Dec 5th 09:00 - 12:00Strategic Member Advisory Committee Meeting (Invite only)12:00 - 13:30Lunch Registration Opens Soon

12th International FIG Workshop on the Land Administration Domain Model & 3D Land Administration

Kuching, Malaysia

The 12th International FIG Workshop on the Land Administration Domain Model & 3D Land Administration will take place in Kuching, Malaysia, 24-26 September 2024. It will be a joint event together with Geoinformation Week 2024 (including Exhibition from vendors), FIG Commission 5 (Positioning and Measurement) Annual Meeting, FIG Commission 7 (Cadastre and Land Management) Annual Meeting, UN Habitat Social Tenure Doman Model (STDM) FIG Workshop on the Land Administration Domain Model & 3D Land Administration The team of local organizers consists of the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), the Sarawak Land and Survey Deptartment (JTS), and the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) Sarawak Branch. More information and registration for the joint event on https://www.geoinfo.utm.my/geoweek/ (Announcement Letter). Workshop purpose: The workshop aims to bring together experts from the industry, government, and academia, to present and discuss LADM and/or 3D LA related developments including live demonstrations of LADM implementations (operational systems, pilots, prototypes). The workshop will also cover informal or customary rights (, restrictions, resposibilities) as exiting in many countries, next to the more formal rights that are being registered. UN-Habitat is using the LADM specialization STDM (Social Tenure Domain Model) in 17 countries to register these informal/customary rights. Also, UN-FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization)'s SOLA (Solutions for Open Land Administration)/Open Tenure and USAID's MAST (Mobile Applications to Secure Tenure) infomation models are all based on LADM. Speakers who want to share their experiences on implementation are cordially invited to participate. This workshop will provide solid input to the "Implementation" part of Edition II of LADM, to be developed in collaboration with OGC. The workshop should enable making important choices, such as the technical encodings.
