After much debate and testing, it’s a keeper!
Based on the reviews here and at Cooks Illustrated, I had my fingers crossed I’d get a slow cooker that actually worked the way it should. I chose the “easy serve lid” because I liked the option of not having to remove the entire lid to serve or check on the food. Like other reviewers, I noticed it didn’t seal perfectly. It wasn’t level on my countertop either. By itself, after 12 hours on low, water was 180 degrees. I added two light hand weights, which elimated the gap in the middle on both sides, and another 12 hour test on low got up to 183, a third test on high for 6 hours was 195. I then decided to try a beef stew tonight on high. After 2 hours, the broth was 180 degrees. After 5 hours, the meat was well done and the broth was at a low boil, over 200 degrees (probably around 210, but I pulled my thermometer out once I saw it was over 200.) My guess is it will do beautifully on low for a slower cook, and the meat will be perfect (closer to 140-145 degrees as opposed to 185 on high.)I’m considering swapping the lid for the newer version to see if it seals better (without my hand weights.) But, I really appreciated the ease of serving dinner with my current lid. I may just have to store those light dumbbells with my pot!

I have been running this through the paces since I got it. It gets used at least once a week. I have cooked boneless skinless chicken, green bean cassarole, and several breakfast cassaroles in this. Using the breakfast cassaroles as reference since eggs can go from runny to rubber so easily, this dish has turned out very good every time. Cooking on low, the sides never got beyond a light brown even after reheating a couple times. Eggs were always fluffy and cooked well without getting rubbery. The green bean cassarole was cooked on low over night then unplugged for a 2 hour commute. It was in the trunk during the trip with an outside temperature of about 35 degrees. Upon arrival it was still hot to the touch. I cooked it on high for about an hour then the ceramic pot was placed in the oven for about 10 minutes to brown the top. Again it never burned around the edges.

I chose this product due to the reviews across this and several other sites. There is also a crock pot review that compared this and about a dozen others. They were tested by an engineer from MIT and several chefs. This was the overall winner and after several uses myself I can agree that it is well worth the money.

I really love this Slow cooker. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the cost of the lid and the fact that you can't close the lid with a spoon in the slow cooker. When I got this it was much more than ten bucks more for the easylid. But either way it's worth it. Oh and there is no cook setting like my ninja had. However, that being said, it is superior to the ninja as a slow cooker. First of all the removable inside is made of ceramic and is far better than the teflon coated ones. The inside of the ninja was looking old and all scratched up after only a few uses. I have had this one for over 6 months and it still looks brand new. And yes, I tossed the ninja! Highly Recommended.

So this is my fourth CrockPot! This is the winner! It actually cooks food SLOW. The other ones I’ve had cooked the food way too hot. When on low a slow cooker should not boil the food. This one has a warm, low, medium and high setting. The low setting cooks pork and chicken perfectly without drying it out. The low setting also cooks cream/milk based things without curdling it. If you want to cook your food how it was intended to be cooked in a SLOW cooker, buy this! My other crockpots ruined more meals than I can count and I had to keep an eye on it. I had to make sure I was home and couldn’t let anything cook more than 6 hours max! That’s not supposed to happen.. This one I can put in my ingredients, set the timer and leave. When I get home I have a perfectly cooked dinner. And for the complaints about the rubber seal on the lid coming off, it takes two seconds to put back on and it’s a good thing because you can clean it better.

I'm returning it. Like others have written -- I'm shocked by the poor glazing of an expensive slow cooker. I counted at least 5 poorly glazed points. I'm concerned about the lack of glazing leading to water intrusion and early failure of the ceramic pot. Many have reported of both problems with glazing and the pot cracking. It seems KitchenAid doesn't stand behind this poorly made product since they don't replace early failing pots. Also the top left about a 1/4 inch gap between the bottom of the lid and the pot where it is supposed to seat. A small gap would be okay but considering it is a slow cooker, much moisture will escape through the large long gaps. This will make it difficult to slow cook. I now have to search for another slow cooker and return the old one -- what a waste of time. I don't mind paying extra for something that is well designed, works well, and of high quality but I found this to be of low quality for the price.

Lovely to look at but does not live up to the KitchenAid brand. The rubber seal on the lid doesn't stay on so not sure how long it will even last. Cooked in it once and it functioned well but not certain if it will the next go 'round without a proper seal. Sadly, I bought it as a Christmas gift for my mother and am sure it will be in the donation pile next week.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fallo al año de uso...
Reviewed in Mexico on April 25, 2018
