Lots of complaining about lock quality on this box. A lock (of any kind) is superfluous on a box like this for “keeping people out” of this box. If someone wanted inside of this box but didn’t have the key (and didn’t know how to pick locks) they would simply steal the box, take it home, and with a $25 angle grinder cut into the box in less that 5 minutes. It would still be 5 minutes even if the SentrySafe had an expensive hardened steel pick-proof lock. Actually, I would have preferred it just had a latch instead of a lock. But for me, it gets 5 stars for it’s quality versus price ratio. I’ll just leave the key in the lock. I use this to protect computer backup external drives from a house fire. This Sentry Safe box goes into a heavy steel safe for security. 😊

I purchased this to protect a few valuable documents. Our focus is to protect the documents from fire, not so much for keeping them away from others. I like the size as it's something that can easily be loaded into a car and transported in an emergency. As for the water resistance, I can only trust what the manufacturer says. This item is certified for fire protection. I found many products available that say they're fire safe, yet they have no certification to prove that. This safe will only hold an 8.5 X 11 inch paper, and there is no extra width available at all. So, it's not a large box, but it does what we purchased it for. I also felt the price is quite reasonable. The lock mechanism is very simple but functions smoothly.

Living in an area where forst fires are common, I wanted to make sure if I needed to evacuate, I had something I could use for storing imporant items and being able to grab-it-and-go is a huge thing I was looking for.

This is large enough to fit multiple items, but since the inside is considerably smaller than the total area of the safe, you can't fit a file folder in here. But it's perfect for a passport and ID cards, USB drives, etc. It has a decent depth to it, so items can be stacked on top of eachother.

It's lightweight and the handle makes it easy to carry, so I feel very confident I can just grab it in an instant if I need to.

This is a nice lock box. I like the size, it can hold legal documents and a medium size handgun. I cannot attest to its fireproof capabilities and I hope I never will. The lock and keys on this box aren't great though.It takes multiple tries to get the keys in the lock, once you get them in they work just fine.
