My specific use case is to keep a poorly insulated open-plan downstairs from getting too cold (and causing the expensive natural-gas central heat run).
It also makes for a comfortably warmer area where I might hang out. The downside is the far end of that open area gets a bit chilly since the house thermostat is in the "warm enough" area. If you're riding the edge of "too cold" (for pipes or otherwise), this might be undesirable.
I get around this by having the house thermostat (a "smart" model) occasionally pop its set-point temperature up & circulate hot forced air, to make sure everything is kept warm enough.
There's an interesting design choice when the heater hits the set temperature. If the unit is set at "high", it'll apparently drop to "low" instead of turning off, avoiding on-off fidgeting. But it'll stop running when the room temperature is several degrees above the set point. Nice.
Quibbles: The spring-loaded safety switch on the bottom of the heater means you can't move the heater when it's running, without it switching off. An internal tip sensor would be a better choice.
This is my 2nd Vornado heater and I'm very pleased with both so far, despite some mixed reviews on here. Recommended.
