My husband always carried a heavy backpack when we travel. He'd use it throughout our trip and his back would hurt from it. I gave him a Wakefield day bag for his birthday and he LOVES it. He has started using it all the time. It is a perfect bag to put in your suitcase and use throughout your vacation whether it be for hiking in the woods or sightseeing. I don't think you will find one that is better.

Light and roomy

Wanted a very light backpack with a couple of pockets that could hold an iPad. Took this to Europe and it was perfect. But a couple of suggestions: On the outside pocket, would prefer if the zipper were horizontal rather than vertical. While it should be zipped at all times, less likely for items to fall out, like my passport, if the zip was horizontal. And I know it is a trade-off with weight and cost, but another organizing pocket inside would go a long way. Having some pockets attracted me to this bag over the absolutely minimalist alternatives. I would favor dropping one of the water bottle holders and adding another inside pocket. Just a thought from a fan.

First thing I did after admiring and trying on the backpack was to go to the website to figure out how to pack it into its inner pocket. I did manage to do it but recommend including a copy of the instructions when you ship the backpack, along with any tips. Looking forward to traveling with it soon!

THE MAGICAL MATERIAL

With input from over 1000 customers, we set out to design a packable bag ideal for both travel and every day.

To support multiple uses, we created a custom-made material that combines Taslan — a modern, high-tech woven fabric that feels good and substantial — with a layer of tricot mesh for structure and a water-resistant coating.

This durable, lightweight textile still looks crisp and unwrinkled even after it has been stuffed or folded.

A PACKABLE BAG FOR EVERY DAY

The Packable Backpack squishes down quickly and folds into its own pocket. Weighing less than a pound, it's designed for using in a pinch or for every day.

For extra comfort, you'll find features not found on most packable bag, like a strap lined with moisture-wicking mesh, interior lining, and pockets secured with waterproof zippers.

HOW TO FOLD

1. Lay the Packable Backpack flat and take out the interior pocket.

2. Fold into thirds toward the middle. Be sure to include the straps.

3. Roll from the bottom toward the pocket.

4. Turn the pocket inside out and flip the roll into the pocket.

5. Zip it up and go.

We asked our community what their ideal packable bag would include. They told us they wanted the convenience of a packable bag with the functionality of a regular WaterField bag.

Using the right textile was key, so we set about creating one that combined packability with style.
