A Must Have!
I tried and returned two sewing machines until I found this beauty. It’s a work horse, versatile and great for anyone. This machine has no trouble going through multiple layers of marine canvas and isinglass. It’s also gentle enough (using the various settings) to sewing very light materials. This is worth every penny. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid sewing machine.

I'm so glad that I chose this model! It's super easy to thread and use. It's even easy to take apart to "clean the race" and get all the thread bits and lint out. Changing needles and pressor feet are quick and simple and the needle threader makes threading effortless. The thread cutter on the side saves me from constantly having to reach for scissors.

For experienced sewists - BEWARE THAT THE MAX SPEED ON THIS MACHINE IS ONLY 750 STITCHES PER MINUTE. I'm a beginner, so this didn't matter to me.

This machine has so many useful features and automatic functions, I almost feel spoiled. The stitch quality is great and I love that it tells you the best foot to use for every stitch. The settings can be changed with just the push of a button. Best of all, it comes with just about everything you could ever need. I still can't believe I got all these pressor feet and accessories for such a low price. It even includes a walking foot. The screwdriver included is perfect for getting into hard to reach places. I've been using the machine for 3 months and have no complaints. I've made 3 large purse linings with pockets and a zipper pouch with a quilted outside. I plan to start my first clothes pattern next!

I bought my first sewing machine in 1977 with the proceeds from the sale of our home. It cost $800! It was a top of the line, Swiss made machine and I loved it! Just a few years ago I gave that machine to my sister, an avid quilter, whose identical machine had “died” earlier (from overuse, I think😉). I bought another brand, the least expensive I could find. I wasn’t sewing much anymore but wanted to have a machine for little projects that might come along. Fast forward to a few months ago when I decided to join the PieceMakers, a quilting group at our church. My “cheap” machine was just OK so I began looking for another one. I came across the Brother CS7000X and it was being offered at a special price, hundreds less than I had paid for my first sewing machine many decades before. Even though I am computer literate, I was not sure I wanted a computerized sewing machine. I am glad I decided to ignore my doubts. I love this sewing machine! The computerization does NOT make this machine difficult to learn how to use. To the contrary, the computer assistance makes many of the things one does while sewing easier. For instance, I can set my machine to stop with the needle in either the “up” or “down” position when stopping a line of stitching. I don’t have to move the wheel to the position I want; it happens automatically. I can set the speed I want to sew, depending on what I am doing. I can set the machine to automatically reverse or reinforce stitches at the beginning and end of stitching. There are many more “computer assist” features and some without computer assist, like a needle threading device. Wonderful for these 80 year old eyes that don’t see as well as they used to!

The most fun, however, is using the decorative stitches, and there are 70 of them on this machine! With the touch of a couple of buttons (and there is a guide for this) I can choose from among the many attractive, decorative stitches and the machine does the rest. I just guide the fabric through. I have made my own “guide” with a sample of the stitches and their numbers next to them so I know exactly how the stitch looks with my fabric and my thread.

Beginning sewer or experienced, I would highly recommend the Brother CS7000X sewing machine!

I shopped around for a new machine and almost went with a world famous name brand, until I really read the user comments. The famous machine very similar to this one, was getting comments having to do with the timing of the motor which is manufacturer error solely and not an easy thing to get fixed which with a brand new machine you shouldn't have to do in the first place. With this Brother machine the negative comments IMHO have to do with people not reading or following the directions. I have been using this machine daily since it arrived and so far I just love it! The needle threader works fine, I have no trouble with it at all. I have tried every single feature of this machine, all the stitches, the buttonholes. One of the only things I find kind of "cheap" is the markings on the button hole attachment, while some are marked the others on the sides are not and are a royal pain to try to read on white plastic, it wouldn't cost that much to dab some paint on those markings or to make the thing out of metal. I find that threading the machine is extremely easy to do and the bobbin is a snap to wind and put in place. My only other complaint is the work light, it really is not very strong at all but that can be got around.
This is a true value, a great home machine, an extension table which I find invaluable, a cover to keep dust off, several sets of needles, bobbins, punch, screwdriver and just about every attachment made for this machine. The only attachment I bought separately was the 1/4 inch quilting foot, which I really didn't need but it's nice to have, and I only paid $9 for that. I will most likely shop around for a carrying case for this machine, it's worth protecting.
I learned on a 1942 famous name brand S and then was given a 1979 second hand machine, another famous name brand with a K which has been nothing but a mess all these years. I was going to go with a new machine, famous name S because I was comfortable with the name and trusted it but I have since found out that the machines are not what they used to be. I decided to take a chance on this Brother and so far I am really glad I did. I feel I got real value with this.
Let me just say here that if you are going to be working with lots of heavy fabrics then stop being cheap and spend the money to get a machine built to do that, don't complain that this machine breaks or messes up. If you want to do normal home sewing or quilting then this machine has what you need to accomplish those tasks.

UPDATE Feb. 2015
Just finished my first quilt on this machine, had no trouble at all. Followed the directions on using the correct needle and good quality thread, gave it one cleaning just to be on the safe side, wasn't a bit of nothing in there but any machine needs cleaning. Took the advice of not using canned air to blow the lint into the machine and used a small paintbrush and a vacuum. Didn't care for the little brush that came with it. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones and didn't get a so called lemon I don't know but so far the machine has been able to handle everything I've thrown at it. I saw where one person had a bit of trouble with it moving some on the table, I had that happen too so I got some of that kitchen drawer liner, can't think of the name of it to save me, but it's the waffle type rubber stuff. Put some of that under my machine and it ain't moved since. :)

I tried two other lower priced machines for my friend and they were terrible. This machine is amazing., I am a professional seamstress with top of the line machines and was pleasantly surprised with this one! The table is very nice to use, it is very user friendly. I didn’t even read the instructions and was able to use it. The only thing I had a bit of a problem with was the needle threader. The instructions are not clear enough and I didn’t have time to fool with it I just threaded it myself!
It has a needle up button which is good, backstitch which stitches backwards on straight stitches and in the same spot on zigzag stitches.
This has many options that higher end machines have except it does not have a cut thread button. lol you get lazy when you have that button.
It is much quieter and smoother running than the two lower priced ones.
It went through my husband’s lined denim jeans when I took them in. That is a lot of thickness and it didn’t stall, make a noise just went through it like butter!
If you want my opinion, this is the machine I would buy myself. Even to take to classes it is so light and easy to pack and carry.
The hard cover that comes with it, the styrofoam inside it stays in there to give it a secure fit so don’t take it out!
Spend the extra money and get a great machine that will last you for years and you will enjoy it!

I totally love my new computerised sewing machine. It’s transformed my sewing in a huge way. Still can’t work out how to do the automatic bobbin threader yet as I’m not sure how you put the thread around the bit above the needles so I’m doing it the old fashioned way lol. I have still kept a hold of my we basic brother machine because it’s fab too but the new one will help me do more things than before. I also have the brother overlocked which is fab too. I would highly recommend all these machines. The prices are amazing. The set up instructions easy and straightforward except the automatic bobbing threader bit. I have had my other 2 machines for about 4 years and they are still going strong. Great make and excellent customer service if you need it. I could never use another make as these machines are phenomenal. I did see another computerised brother machine which does even more and I will probably invest in further down the line. 100% recommend anyone looking at this product or the other 2 because they have never let me down.

I am autistic and very sensitive to sound. I have wanted a sewing machine for a long time because i sew everything by hand and some things can take hours for something very small. This machine is very easy to use for beginners, quiet and enjoyable.

I can’t really say much on weight as I’ve never owned a machine before but it’s light enough for me to carry from upstairs to downstairs when I need to use it and the case keeps it well protected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, sews vinyl/denim, nice extras

I bought this machine to replace an old Singer that had been in our family for about fourty years. About a year and a half ago, I discovered cosplay, and I’ve been sewing my own costumes since. My old machine was struggling after so many years, and I wanted options like fancy stitches and one-step buttonholes. This machine absolutely stepped up to the task. I can see through multiple layers of vinyl (granted, not at top speed, but still at a decent clip), the fancier stitches look gorgeous, and I love the little extra features that I’ve never experienced before.
The see-through bobbin case is a big plus for me, as I love being able to double-check that I have enough thread. The needle threader, which I’ve never had before, works like a charm, and it takes me barely twenty seconds to retread my machine now. It’s also way quieter than my old machine, and just has a nice sound about it.
All of the accessories that came with it work well. The walking foot is a revelation, and my new favourite toy when sewing stretch fabric. As aforementioned, it’s really easy and quick to re-thread the machine. There’s a sticker with a simple diagram up top, and each piece that you use when threading the machine is numbered.
It’s pretty easy to switch out needles and feet. The computer part works well; I have no issues scrolling quickly through the stitches, and I appreciate that it tells you which foot to use for which stitch.
I’ve sewn through a lot of different types of fabric, and this machine has held up well under all of them. I wanted something that was multi-purpose but had more options than my ancient Singer offered. This one was a fantastic choice, and I’m really glad it’s the one I got.
